Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

I agree with the don't take the pills advice. Try to focus and stay calm. You have time to take this weight off naturally. It is not uncommon for women to gain weight especally water weight. Do not start starving yourself..your body will slow it's metabolizism down, that is a fact of physiology..thanks to mother nature. Try increasing your water intake first, this actually helps you diurese excess water aka pee it out. Try to eat smaller portions if you can but stay calm. Stress is a powerful thing...sometimes it makes people eat more. IF you really think that you are having a major problem I agree with the bride who said go to weight watchers, I have friend who went there before her wedding and actually had to have the gown taken in 3 times!!! Good Luck.

Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

don't take pills!! i am the same as you, although i am not heavy, i love to eat and have no willpower when it comes to food!!! my dress was snug 1 week before my wedding, but i watched what i ate for just the few days before and i actually looked thin the day of my wedding.....my dress was a little BIG....not to mention that the stress and nerves alone will make you lose lbs. the last few days before....don't worry, just watch what you eat from now til then and then be strict with yourself the 2 weeks before your wedding to make sure you lose it and dont gain it back before the day...good luck!

Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

Hello - fitness queen here........ everyone's advice is good so far. Don't worry; you have plenty of time to lose a few inches. Just eat clean - no fatty stuff or sugar. Cut back on your starchy carbs like bread, pasta, potatoes, and eat more fiber. Eat more protein too, like chicken breasts, fish, lean meats. Protein will keep you full longer than carbs will. Drink lots of water. Eat 6 small meals a day. Eat larger meals in the beginning of the day and scale it down towards the evening. Do 30 minutes of cardio at least 3-4 times a week. Bring some kick ass music to the gym - it'll help with the boredom. Hang your gown up where you can see it to remind you about fitting into it!
As far as fat burners, you don't need them since you have a few months to lose only a few pounds. And yes, they can be dangerous and/or make you feel like you just drank 10 espressos.

Good luck! You can do it! Remember, sugar is EVIL!!!!!

Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

Definitely going to stay away from the pills. Can you believe yesterday one of the firms we work with sent us each a tin of Mrs. Fields cookies???? And last night was our holiday party. So needless to say, the cookies are going to have to find a new home, which is torture!!
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to cut back portion wise, cut back on carbs (though i love my carbs) and step up my workouts. I wish I didn't have to sit at a desk all day, it makes me lazy.

Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

I just ordered the Buff Brides book. If you go to Amazon.com, you can get that book and the wedding workout for around $20. Both got good Amazon reviews, and I need some motivation to do weight training at home. I am hoping that they work!!

I'd have to say yes because I went off them for 2 months and my body returned to normal.
I imagine that something in the pills stimulates your production of certain hormones that are released by your thyroid and if you take them it would show up in bloodwork.

I also assume that that's why in the warning, it says not take them if you already have a preexisting condition.

Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

I am seeing a low carb nutritional counselor in the City. Basically eat less than 30-35 grams of carbs a day and eat lots of lean protein and veggies.. I drink and entire gallon of water a day and take vitamins.. I've been a fat burning machine since i've started.

Who is your nutritional counselor? Has it been easy to follow his advice from a practical point of view (i.e. you can find the food you need in normal food places and don't have to spend half of your lunch searching for food)? Is it something that is covered by insurance, and if not, how expensive are the appointments? If you can, can you please forum mail me?

Thank you

Re: Help! My dress is too tight!

I lost 30 lbs. on weight watchers just by going to weight watchers online. It;s easy to join, just use your credit card online. They set you up with a whole program and you just do a search on their website for what you eat and it comes up and you add it to your personal journal (does this make sense?) and all your points are totaled up for you. Theres also an option to add excersise(which includes walking leisurely!) and that gets added in with your points (excersise gives you more points)
Whatever you don't use gets automatically banked by the computer so you can save your extra points for going out, having drinks, whatever. Its also good because you weigh into the computer and it shows you a progress chart and everything. I highly recommend this program. I just have to get back on it myself b.c I've been slacking!

Talk to your doctor. He'll be able to recommend what's best and most importantly, healthiest for you.
