I have a green thumb but I don't know how to use it well

How do I cut down the plants without killing them?? They are way onto the floor now.
Thanks

Both spider plants and ivy are very hardy plants! Spider plants sprout off 'babies' (i dont know what they are called) - But they are like little plants with their own roots and you can cut it off and plant it on its own.

With the ivy you can chop it own however - it'll grow again. You could make a topiary though if its gotten big.

I have an ivy plant, and when it gets too long I just trim it with a scissor.
You will NOT kill it. It is very hardy.
Trust me ivy just keeps growing and growing
