Picking a venue seems to be the most trouble for us. We saw 10 places before we finally agreed that the Thatched Cottage was the one for us. Now, it's closing down, so we need a place all over again. Here are the things I'm looking for, if anyone has ideas:
-I want enough cocktail space to fit all 150-175 of my guests. (We have a guest list of 225! OOP.)
-One wedding at a time, please.
-An option to have an indoor or outdoor wedding.
-I want it to feel very warm and cozy. I'd like it to be a space where I could imagine a bunch of old school men in tuxedos smoking cigars and playing cards. I'm thinking dark wood and leather.
Places I've already seen an ruled out are the Riviera, Venetian Yacht Club, Windows on the Lake, Chateau La Mer, the Swan Club, Jericho Terrace, Carlyle on the Green, Westbury Manor, the Chateau at Coindre Hall, and the Sterling. Any ideas would be ever so helpful!
Look into the Lessings venues. They have so many venues, all with a different feel.

I know you want one wedding at a time, but you should definitely check out fox hollow. We are in the garden terrace room (dark wood floors) and our cocktail room is exactly what you described with the leather, dark wood. Etc. we have to gaurentee 175. Our room is completely seperate from the other room in the building. The only thing shared is the guest bathrooms and there's no reason for you to ever leave the room because the. Bridal suite is attached to the room and you have a completely private outdoor area just for you and your guests. There's space for indoor or outdoor ceremony as well. One wedding at a time was something I wanted also, but fox hollow makes me feel really comfortable and I have not a single worry that I will see anyone from the other wedding that night. If you want quotes, let me know :)

lands end is one wedding at a time. They were our runner up and we loved them. I've been to weddings there and they do a great job.
We are getting married at te Somerley at fox hollow. It's a separate wing with own bathrooms and entrance. We hve to guarantee 175 and te cocktail hr space has an aWesome lounge feel to it.

I was thinking woodlands as well. Their cocktail room reminds me of old men smoking cigars and drinking scotch :)

We're in the same boat. :( Lands End is very beautiful, just more than our budget. I have a lot of quotes if you need.

Definitely Lands End! They have a 'cordial room' that used to be a cigar room before the smoking inside laws changed. There is an outdoor space just outside the room with outdoor fireplaces and seating to smoke cigars. Towards the end of the wedding that room opens up and there is a coffee/cordial bar. Not to mention the whole venue is definitely warm and cozy.

Wow, I've never even heard of Land's End, but the pictures are stunning. I'm definitely going out there to have a look!
Thanks, guys, there are a lot of great places here I'm going to have to check out. I was originally thinking the Woodlands too, and he wanted to see the Royalton.
Time to hit the pavement again, I guess!
