Help, please!!! Question about Maggie Sottero dress sizes

Hi girls,

I have an important question (important for my sanity) - what regular dress size does a Maggie Sottero dress size equal to? i.e., is a 12 in a Maggie a regular 6? 8?

I just tried on my new Maggie, and I had lost a lot of weight since I ordered it, and I think it's too big - I don't know what to do, whether I should try to buy a new one! I'm worried about altering it, since it has a corset...

Please help!

I measured my regular size for my Maggie dress. I still haven't gotten it in yet but soon. Ask a seamstress or maybe the shop where you got it from if an alteration will still keep the style and shape. To purchase a new one... I think you'll be cutting it really close.

oh wait, so you purchased the same size in wedding dress as you wear regularly? Say, if you're a size 2 regularly, you bought a size 2 wedding dress?

omg, then I really did get a dress that's too big!!

Actually, mine was 3-4 sizes bigger than what I usually wear. And like you I have lost a lot of weight as well. But the woman told me to just order it the size it says and its not a big deal with the corset in the back. They could always pull it tighter.

I am a size 9/10 in reg clothes. When I tried on my Maggie dress in a size 10 it was a little big. They wanted me to order a size 8 but that would have been a little snug. I ordered the 10 and figured at least they can make it smaller ... rather then killing myself to actually fit into the 8.

Dont worry about it!! Mine has a corset and when I ordered it I was a 16, now im about a 10/12 and losing....and they are altering it and so far so good! I wouldnt go get another dress...A professional seamstress is able to deal with these situations. You can ask your bridal salon to show you how it would be taken in. I asked them to and it eased me a bit

Im more excited that its being taken it

I am a size 6 and My maggie sottero dress is an 8 & fits like a glove ! so like 1 size bigger

I wear a 6-8 in street sizes, and my Maggie is a 10. One store wanted me to order the 8 based on my measurements, but the sample size 10 fit me perfectly so we went with that instead!

My Maggie is a size 10. I wear a size 6 or 8 normally.

Hmm...I'm a 6-8 now, and I ordered a 12 - I guess I should have ordered a 10

but it sounds like they can be altered? I hope so!

ofcourse they can be altered....think of it this way...its better and easier to take in then let out!

well it depends, is it a corest back or buttons/zipper? most maggies are corset but some newer ones arent.

if its corset, dont worry, 1 size can span 4

i think that for most corset gowns, ordering 1 size up is best... thats how mine was ordered. i was shocked that it was that close to my actual size but its becasue of the corset!!!

You really should talk to the shop where you placed your order...since it's a corset back you may be able to get away with it without alterations, since you can adjust the tightness...good luck!

I just had my first fitting and I have a Maggie gown (Rosemary Leigh).. I am a street size 24 and I ordered a size 24 gown - the bridal consultant went according to my measurements.

I tried it on with the real bra and all and it ony had to be let out about 1/4 of an inch on each side just so that the back of the gown (corset area) lays correctly also it had to be hemmed about a 1/2 inch also and the chest area needed to be taken in as well since I am not so big there.

I wouldn't be worried as long as you have a good seamstress... corset backs can be altered so that if you lost weight it will be okay. I would say stick with that gown and not to order a new size and just let them work on it.

i wear an XL or an XXL shirt b/c of my bust. I wear a 7(not comfortably lol) or a 9 in jeans.
My Maggie is an 18.

Wow I am totally different then you girls. I normally wear a 6 or an 8 and i ordered a 12...it fits great rather long but other then that not much needs to be done....who knows!!!???
