FI and I originally decided to go with a photographer out west who we loved but the travel fees and extra expenses that were coming up put us WAY over budget. Photography is the most important aspect of my wedding to me. I am looking for more of a photojournalist as opposed to a traditional photographer.

Hmmm....Marianela Vera is NYC based, I wouldn't say she's totally photojournalistic, but she definitely has aspects of that in her work and she's SO affordable www.nellavera.com
My friend Diane (BunnyBride) has a Brooklyn based photographer who is all photojournalistic. Can't think of her name. Maybe if you did a search for BunnyBride's posts you can find it...or you can FM her! She's away in Mexico now though (lucky biotch!).

I haven't used him yet, but I've heard great things about Willi Wong photography. There are some great e-pics in knottie bio: tossedrice (on The Knot)!!!

Why NYC photographers if you don't mind me asking? We live in NYC and found an amazing photographer in Suffolk county that also does photojournalism. We met & researched for NYC photographers and some of them started their packages at $10k, but I'm sure not all start at that high. Just curious to know...

Hi Poetic Justice,
I have to recommend my photographer. She is UNBELIEVABLY talented and stands apart from any other photog. Her pictures are soo artistic and truly capture the emotions of the subjects. You can see her work as opposed to other people's and can spot out her signature work in a second.
I was hoping to go with Troy Photography but they are based in CT and request that their travel expenses be taken care of... so I guess I'm not much help!

I used Duet. Technically, they are based out of Huntington, but have an office in Midtown Manhattan. I live on Staten Island and work in midtown and I've always done everything with them in the city. Never had a problem!

We live in Brooklyn and work in NYC and we definitely want to do our engaement pics in the city. It was just our first inclination to meet with NYC photographers and more a matter of convenience.
