So I booked the swan club. I was super excited. Then I asked around for quotes from different vendors to decorate the ballroom abit. I'm not fond of the mirrored walls...etc. The quotes were astronomical for draping and such. Now I'm thinking about giving up my deposit and continue the search for a place that has a nice garden area as well as a pretty ballroom. I'm considering fox hollow. What should I do? Help!

We booked with Majestic Gardens ... we even went to the Expo last night !!!!!!!!!!!! The place is amazing and their gardens are so beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!! They are in Rocky Point.. I don't know if that is too far for you !!!!!!

You have to be 100% In love with your decision. IMO I am booked at Jerico Terrace and I LOVE evrything about it from top to bottom.
I would go and quotes and if someone is offering you the same or more the go for it! Its your day and you need to do what makes you 110% Happy!

We booked Swan Club in February and five months later we cancelled it . We weren't in love with the place and we are very happy with our decision now...

We have also chosen Majestic Gardens. The gardens are amazing and everything is in neutral colors in the ball rooms i found this pic of majestic gardens on line for you. they also have a web site with tons of pictures couldnt get pic to post in my album

Why don't you take a look at Woodbury Country Club...they have amazing grounds, and the rooms are beautiful (esp. the room upstairs - it is very pretty and overlooks the grounds and fountain). If you have any questions feel free to fm me.

thats like the major rule of thumb when booking a RH.... dont book it thinking you can totally 'renovate' it and make it to your liking bc before you know it, you'll be spendin double the due to the extras....

I loved the Thatched Cottage, and would highly recommend it. I was considering the Swan Club too -- I thought the grounds at the Swan Club were stunning, but i was looking for a 1 wedding at a time place. If you can afford to lose your deposit, then look around. I loved both the grounds and the inside at TC, and guests are still raving about the food. Good luck!

hmmm, If you like everything else about the hall other than the mirrors, if you are having a DOC they may have ways to cover the mirrors.
If it will be to costly, I am biased towards the Fox Hollow, I love it there, but you have to be 100% sold on your hall.
I haven't been to the Swan Club, but is it possible to arrange the room in a way to minimize the impact of the mirrored walls, or have trees or something to cover it?
Before you look into losing hte deposit, I would see if there is anything else that would be more cost efficient.

I agree that you have to love your RH 100%. I love everything about the Fox Hollow. The minute I pulled up I fell in love with both the outside and the inside. I almost fell to the floor when I walked into my room, I loved it that much!!!

I hope you wont lose too much money but I agree that you should love your place...in the end if you dont you'll waste money trying to make OTHER things 'better' and prb spend the $$ your losing in your deposit. Hope this works out for you

Giorgio's is beautiful. I'm fairly certain you wouldnt have to change a thing-- no ugly mirrors, wallpaper etc. Everything is really elegant. It's in Baiting Hollow...so not sure if you would want to go that far...but I personally consider it a great alternative to a destination wedding. The surrounding area is beautiful and you get the benefit of a golf course, beach and gardens all in one location. Food is amazing...you should really check it out.

Thanks for all your support. Judging from all your feedback, I think I'm back in the search again for a RH. I haven't given up entirely on the Swan club yet but I think I need to seek alternative venues.
On date note, I think I've just opened a can of worms. I ordered my save the date cards, and now I might change the date depending on the place I re-book.... Why is this happening...grrr~

did you ask them if they can put up coverings on the walls? they may want to work with you rather than loosing a wedding in hopes another event may book the slot.

I also reccomend Majestic Gardens. It is beautiful and so are the gardens. Here are some pics form my wedding there.
I am booked at the Swan Club and I like the mirrors.
But if you are not 100% in love with your venue you should change it. I imagine you have alreayd paid your first (and possible second) deposit. Wouldn't you be losing alot of money for the venue change?

I agree with everyone, you have to be 100% in love with it. When I booked my RH I had doubts for about two weeks after, I wanted to still look... then my FH set up a food tasting and when I went back I realized why I booked in the first place and realized i loved it and havent thought about it since!
I was the MOH at my cousins wedding at the swan club last summer and thought it was beautiful! I dont remember mirrors at all actually. I personally think the swan club was one of the nicest wedding places I have seen.
with all of that being said maybe you should go look at it again.. if you find yourself still questioning it then look around and see if you like something better. Its your day you have to be happy with it!

I've not made my second deposit yet. If I go elsewhere and save money on not having to drape the walls. So if in the end I save money, I'm not too worried.
I'm still going to look for other vendors for draping hoping for cheaper alternatives.
