Regarding deposits...check Nassau county laws. RHs wont tell you this...but alot of times they are required to give the deposists back...minus a few hundred. I know in Suffolk county they have to.
If you dont love your place...def keep on looking. There are so many options out there. I, too, couldnt get past the wallpaper I didnt like at one place....and went with my heart...spent a little more...but am so happy with my decision.
If you are looking in Nassau...also check out New Hyde Park Inn (absolutely beautiful...but expensive), Westbury Manor and Millridge. I really liked the Millridge...but they cant sit everyone at the cocktail hour...which bothered me. If you are having a smaller wedding it could be great for you.

Re: HELP!!!! RH second, third, fourth thought....
I don't plan on having more than 100 guests. I would like to keep it small and cozy. I know fox hollow wanted a min of 120 people at the winter garden room which I think is kind of high since its max capacity is 150. The swan club is 160 for the contessa room and they told me their min is 80. I think fox hollow is abit high on the min.
Anyone have ideas for min. guest requirements at Gorgios, Majestic Gardens, Thatched Cottage, and some of the other ones mentioned for saturaday evening wedding?
I did not like Westbury CC. The customer service is horrible there. They totally wasted my time.

who did you speak with? when i spoke with jordana when i went, she def knew what she was talkin about... she answered every question i had on my list before i got a chance to ask it! i also went at a time when they werent busy and they could spend a good amt of time talkin with me... i have nothing but good things to say about their service thus far... they even answered questions for my mom who called up asking about table sizes
btw, FH & I had lunch in the contessa room for our tasting and i thought it was a beautiful room! mirrors are actually good... they had more depth to a smaller room... if you hide those, it'll look very closed in IMO... i also love the chairs in that room... i wish they had those in the camelot

instead of draping have you thought about lighting? if they dim the lights and put up LED color lighting that might take away from the mirrors in the room (you can go with a lighting company or get them through your DJ). only a suggestion cause I dont want you to lose on your deposit. planning the wedding will certainly add up quickly! best of luck to you!

if you don't mind the drive out east, East Wind is lovely.
Also you said that you were going to have more than 100 guests. How many are you planning on inviting? We invited 157 and ended up with 91.

Re: HELP!!!! RH second, third, fourth thought....
I LOVED the Gardens at the Swan Club. I didn't choose it because I wasn't totally happy with the Garden Room or the Contessa. However, keep in mind that you will have beautiful pictures. Is the Garden room an option for you? I was considering that room because I didn't like the mirrors in the Contessa and I felt that the guests were divided. In the end I chose the Thatched Cottage which is beautiful but I still think about the Gardens at the Swan Club. Good luck!

I agree with everyone about finding a place that you don't need to cover up and like the way it is.
I hate chair covers so it was impt to me that I find a place with chairs I liked. I loved everything about the NRC inside and out except for the ceremony room which was a little plain, but looked beautiful once decorated (draped the chuppah, brought in flowers etc)
maybe look around more? NRC has a beautiful ballroom and outdoor grounds too so it might be worth a look

I had a 125 minimum for a Sunday night at Thatched Cottage. They would let you go down on the minimum (that sounds dirty ), but then the price pp goes up. Good luck!
