HELP!! Second thoughts about photographer. I placed a deposit, but is it too late to switch or re-negotiate for a better package?

Hey,

I booked with Patken (using Bones) but I really don't feel as if I got the best deal. This was actully the second vendor that we booked so I wasn't too good at the negotiating bit.

I really love their photography, but I keep thinking about a quote that I got from Cassarino that included more stuff for less $$.

I live out of town, so I came down to NY for a weekend and tried to see the photographers.

I saw:
Mark Kauffmann,
Bill Minnick
Cassarino
Patken
Conrad Rego

The problem is that I keep reading these boards and I think that I didn't see enough photographers in the price range I was looking for (Patken, Cassarino were okay, Kaufmann was a little pricey but I didn't click with him. Minnick and Rego were budget vendors so the price was excellent, but I didn't really like photography).

Patken offers a full refund of the deposit if I cancel b4 6 months, so now I'm wondering if I should have looked at Duet, Imagine, Leli, or some of the others that people are raving about. My budget is $3000 ($2800 is ideal!).

The only problem is that I probably won't be back in NYC until Nov or Dec. I guess I can ask my sister to look again since she's going to look for videographers for me.

Okay, I'm rambling. SOrry. Does anyone have any advice?

I think that since Duet is on your list of vendors to check you should send your sister to check them out. If you booked photo and vidoe from them, I believe that package is $3700 and it comes with a lot. I don't know anything about the other vedors, but I did bok Duet and I feel extremely confident with my decision.

I was going to look at Casserino but checked t hem out on BBB and they had a few complaints and I read a few more complaints on here and I just didn't go with them because if God Forbid something happend I would have that on my mind....

If you're having reservations, take the loss of the deposit. Thats exactly what we did and even though we lost $600 ( a lot!! ) Im much happier with our choice now.

hi , well i used a photographer
that was under 300 for 100 shots
and i was very impressed by there work
they are extremely nagotiable.
u just tell them your budget and they work with you!

i had some in black in white and in color
it was beautiful!

I would call Patken, and ask to speak with Doug(The owner). Explain your situation, and see if you can work something out. He's was very understanding when it came to what we wanted when we booked him. Good Luck!!

Wow!! I would talk to the guys at Patken as well. They are all great! I am sooooo disappointed that my situation isn't going to work for them. I live in Brooklyn and the reception is in West Hemsptead so I had to go with someone else. I would have booked them in a heartbeat!!

I agree- I have seen their work at their studio and on here and have never heard a complaint about them. They are wonderful to work with as well. Their photo package is 2717 with tax included.

I've seen their work on here and they seem to be very good. If I were you, I'd call them and explain your situation to them. Most likely they will be able to reach an agreement in which you are both happy. I'm certain that they'd prefer not to lose a customer.
