Help Settle a Dispute...Combined Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dances

Please help me settle a dispute with FI.

If you combine your Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dances:

Are you both supposed to be announced together or is the Father/Daughter announced first, then after a minute or so the Mother/Son is announced and joins in?

i never heard of them being done at the same time either, but i understand the reasoning behind it and it makes sense. we would do that but my fmil will just have to have the spotlight on her, so its really not an option

Thanks for all your responses.

We decided to have the dances combined in an effort to have more time for our guests to party...plus we figured it would take the pressure off us when we have everyone up there dancing together.

i dont have a close relationship with my father and i dont think my fmil want the spot light on her and her son alone so combining the dances will be a great way to solve this problem!!! yah!!!

now my mother wants to have a dance with me too hmmmm????

Hmm, I've never seen it done but I know it has been, I think it would be nice to announce them together. Not have the Mother/Son wait bc that would slight them and I'd feel bad.

Personally this isn't a bad idea, I'm thinking of doing it since I'm not close with my dad. And FH's mom passed away, so instead he's dancing with his daughter. I have to see how he feels about the idea, we could dance to the same song and have more time for other stuff.
