Help-STD Related

So our STD's are due to come in this week and FH & I are so excited we want to send them out right away, which puts us at the 10 month mark. We do have a decent amount of OOT guests and figured the earlier the better.

I was talking to my mom and she said it is entirely up to us but do we want to send them out right away or wait a little bit, about the 8 month mark which would mean sending them out May. She just doesn't want us to send them too early where people forget & I said we got magnets but she said people may NOT want them on the fridge that long and my feeling is if you don't want it there for 10 months then don't come haha!

I am not sure now what to do?! Ahhh.. Is 10 months too far out? Should I wait? I also have a cousin ( who is my age and we are both BM for one another and very close) who is getting married in October and her STD's just came about 2 weeks ago so I don't want it to be like copy cat situation or stealing thunder type of thing. Ladies, HELP!

I dont think its too early if you have a good amount of oot guests. However if you think your cousin would feel like you are stealing her thunder maybe wait until the 9 month mark. This way it's still earlier and far enough away from when she sent hers out.

I think you can send it however early you want!! If people FORGET about your wedding, they'll remember when they get the invitation. I don't know why they'd not put the magnet up. I think 10 months vs 8 months won't make too much of a difference.

The thing that I would do is ask your cousin if she'd prefer for you to wait an extra month or two. She may say she doesn't care. But I think she's the one who you should be more considerate of.

Hope this helps!!

I think 10 months is perfect. I've gotten saved the dates a year from the wedding and I never 'forgot' about the wedding. I just keep the magnet on my fridge as a reminder, which is what you're guests will probably do.

Magnets are the best STD idea for this reason. It wont go missing and im sure people wont mind it being 10 months out. We sent ours a little over 8 months out. HTH!

I agree with sgf2, if your cousin doesn't mind then send them out whenever you want!

Ok. I know this website has its own lingo, but being a nurse I just can't get used to the abbreviation STD. When it said help-STD related, I was like oh my god, that's personal.

10 months before is good! I'm glad your cousin was ok with it. I sometimes have STDs on the fridge for a year and it doesn't bother me at all! It's exciting!

I'm going to be doing then around 14 months out BECAUSE... not only do I have a MASSIVE amount of OOT and Out of COUNTRY guests... but its also around the holidays!! only 12 days before christmas! I want them to have PLENTY of time to save up for airfare and hotel if they want to come!

I say go for it now! I've gotten STD's as early as 18 months prior!

It's still so funny for me to read. I have STDs on my fridge for a year. Sorry, it never gets less funny to me.

I just got an STD for a wedding in June, but in their defense, they got engaged in December.

I sent them at 12 month mark. I have a lot of OOT guests. also my aunt that lives like 30 mins away since she has kids with winter breaks she was about to plan their vacation for Jan 2014 already in Dec 2012! they have a timeshare so that's why she plans so early but you never know. people tend to forget exact date but usually remember hey so&sos wedding is that year let me check the magnet lol before booking vacations.

We're getting our engagement photos done in the spring and I know the second we get the STDs done I'll want to send them out. I don't want to do any more than a year out, but I think 8-10 months is fine. I don't think anyone will forget your wedding!

I'm sending mine out in July, so 10 months before- I have gotten some 12 months before, and some as early as 5-6 months before... I think that as long as it's not longer than a year out from the wedding, then you're fine!
