I've been using the Lysol Scrubbing bubbles too and CLorox Clean Up Gel. But I still think Soft scrub is my favorite, however our tub is Fiber Glass (?) something, def not Porcelain so I am afraid of scratching it with the abrasive cleaners.
Any advice?

I use this sort of brush, OXO, I actually love all their brushes, they are expensive but work really well and are comfortable in your hand.

Jenn thats funny, at least he helps out when he gets out of the shower. Ifeel like im always RE-cleaning everything that same day or the next day!

I had a spotless kitchen yesterday and went out shopping with the baby,and left john home painting. I come home to stuff all over the counter (new gadgets he bought at Sears that he was looking at) the sink and stove a big mess.

YES, I say something ALL THE TIME, but it comes to the point where im TIRED of being his MOTHER.


and if I leave a spotless bathroom, I'll look a few hours later, and see his brush, his towel sitting around, and the rug all lopsided and not freshly vacuumed looking anymore. oh and if he shaves, i see the remains of it, spots of white here and there, and even if he attempted to clean it, it was a bad attempt, lol... and i even asked him to have a separate towel for when he shaves, nothing like going to dry your face and smelling shaving cream all over your face LOL... HELLPPP !!

ok, give me some tips, so whats your cleaning routine (from week to week.) maybe I can have a set routine and MAKE him stick to it by no choice (so this way he wont think im cleaning EVERY DAY after hIM !!)

Anna, I can totally sympathize with the nagging and reminding of my husband about cleaning up after himself without being his MOTHER! That is my big beef with him, how many times do I have to tell you to do something!?!?!?!

Just like if I make a mess, make myself a drink, make a sandwich....I clean up after myself and not leave a trail, why is that so HARD for a man!?!?!?!

I keep thinking that if it is that bad now, can you imagine what it will be like when we have kids! I will have 2 kids to look after, including him...that is why I am trying to stop it now!

stacey, i KNOW, right now my son is a newborn, so its not that bad, but when he's a toddler, I'll be in over my head with cleaning up after the 2 of them! (and maybe another baby by then ! )
and he always has a comeback to justify it to make me feel guilty 'my hands were all dirty with paint and I didnt wanna get the kitchen dirty with that stuff' or 'the baby was crying, should i just let him cry ??' and then if i continue the argument (Which i usually do ) it goes on and on, and I dont accomplish ANYTHING !

once in a while, he's cooperative and we have teamwork going...

My best argument is when we do get some team work going and he is helpful with cleaning and he says 'What do you need me to do?' To that I respond, DO YOU RENT HERE, WHATTYA MEAN WHAT DO I DO!!! Mind you we have been living together over a year....ya think he should know what needs to be cleaned. I would love to keep the apt. clean during the week so we don't have to spend a Saturday cleaning when he says 'I need to relax and not be so busy on the weekends'. Funny huh, I am always the one to be cleaning but I don't complain about relaxing!

Sorry to ramble but I feel your pain...now I am worried that you are STILL working on your husband when you have been married and now have kids. Someone help me!!

LOL, Stacey, I read that and nodded my head to everything you wrote, LOL. I HATE when he says 'what do you need me to do'... As if HE DOESNT KNOW what needs to be done. A few times he was short some work clothes that hadnt been washed...so now hes a little more conscious of whether laundry needs to be done. Even tho im home with the baby, and not working, I still think he can pitch in. My view is, this is my job (stay at home mom and cleaning the house, run errands, etc) but when am I OFF from work ?? NEVER, obviously, so there comes a time after work that he has to pitch in. I cant work 24-7 and he works
9-5,LOL.
I try to have the weekends free too.
I have to say the week I got home from the hospital, he was another person, cleaned, cooked, did EVERYTHING EVERYTHING from A to Z, I was flabbergasted and shocked and SOOOO happy, but too bad he went right back to his old habits !!
My having a C-section and being in labor earned that, and that was it...
I remind him every day, of how GREAT he was 'that week' LOL...
Depending on his mood, he'll still help, but its not the same when I have to remind him...

edited to say 'that ten days' I'll give him the credit for the whole ten days that he was off.
(he wanted to take more but i told him to save the vacation time for another day!)

These posts are making me lmao!!! FH frustrates me so much because i'll complain that he doesn't help out enough w/ the cleaning but when he does, he does a half-a** job and I need to re-clean everything he just did. Like his idea of making the bed is to just squish all the sheets up and throw the bedspread on top to cover it!...MEN!

LOL Anna...I really think all men are made from the same mold, they have to be! And what is up with them not being able to multi-task? We can do laundry, while dusting then vacuuming, AND mop the floor while baking cookies!!! God forbid the TV is on when Gary wants to/has to vacuum...he walks past it, sees something he likes on that tube and sits on the edge of the couch with the vacuum in his hand!! Is he a robot or something?!?!?!

You know I used to complain that he does not do his share, but the secret is keep praising them and they will do better. Hubby does the drag the sheet over the unmade bed too so don't feel bad. Or he claims he cleans the bathroom but all he does is washes the tub, no mopping the floor, no washing the bowl, no changing the curtains. As they say choose your battles wisely. If I keep beating up on him I think he will just stop completely. So I try to encourage him to do it better. He caught me re-doing something that he did and he was so hurt

OMG! That happened to me once!

I had just cleaned the bathroom before company waas coming over. And I go upstairs to get something and DH is scrubbing the Bathroom!!! I'm like What are you doing? He said, Cleaning the bathroom. I said, I just spent 45 minutes in here cleaning! Couldn't you tell??!!

He just raised his eyebrows, with that wide eyed look! LOL
Maybe he just didn't realize it was done ..... (crosses fingers..)

Anna, I wish I could be more helpful, but Patrick is just naturally clean ~ he's just not NEAT (do you think there is a difference between those things? He doesn't ) I never tell him to clean this or that, he just does it. With us, it's a struggle to get him to put things away. Our house is almost always clean and shiny (HE yells at ME for wearing shoes in the house!!), but we have lots of his 'stuff' (mail, newspapers, small tools, X-Box games, shoes) lying all around. That's our big argument. Oh and also getting dishes and things 10 inches from the sink to the dishwasher...
