I was just wondering how many brides are doing the tossing of the bouquet and garter at their reception. I'm still undecided. Is it still often done or is it an antiquated tradition? Thanks.

I am but my mom suggested something a little different...
She just went to a wedding and instead of doing the toss they asked every MARRIED couple onto the dance floor, and then they said those who have been married more than 5 years, please stay on the dance floor, and the rest sat down, then 10 years, 15 years, 20 years etc... they were left with one couple that was married for over 50 years! and that couple got a bouquet of flowers :)
That's what we did. We didn't have too many single people that would have been interested in being called out to try to catch the bo-k.
Both sets of parents happened to have used the same song as their first dance at their weddings 30+ years ago, so that's the song we used for the anniversary dance.

we are skipping both. There aren't many single people coming to the wedding and my FH are why too shy to do the whole garter thing lol ![]()

Definately not the garter.. but maybe on the bo-k toss... my RH has a great balcony that would be a nice photo op...
but I love the anniversary dance - I may do that too!
that was the only thing that made me think 'Maybe I'll do the bo-k toss' but we will probably wind up not doing it... that balcony is awesome though for the toss

we're not doing the whole garter thing... and i'm not lining up all the 'single ladies' to toss the bqk.

i love both and i will be doing both at my wedding!
when FH sister got married in 2008 i gout the BoK and FH caught the garter and at my sisters wedding in 2009 it was the same thing!

We're doing both, but we are the first of our friends to get married...only one other couple is engaged...so there's people to participate lol
