HELP!!------What to do when a person RSVP no but sends money

I have a few guests who RSVP no but sent money (checks). What do I do.......

Do I send them a thank you right away, or do I wait until after the wedding to say thank you?

Do I sent them a thank you now and another one after the wedding (with our wedding photo thank you's)?

Do we deposit the checks now, or after the wedding?

I would send them a thank you now saying something like I am sorry you won't be able to make it but we really appreciate the gift. Cash the checks now.

I agree 100% After the wedding you can send one with a picture and even a favor if you have extra (thats what I was thinking of doing at least) :)

I deposited the checks right away, but waited until after the wedding to send a thank you....wanted to get the pro pics back first so I could send a thank you with the picture.

We're having the same problem right now. Its still 1.5 months before the wedding and we prob wont get the pro pics back until oct or nov so we sent thank yous to people we weren't too close with just so they knew we got the gift and deposited the checks. We can wait on thanking close friends and family so we can send a picture and those who will actually be at the wedding. Its a difficult situation but i dont think people will be too insulted if you wait to thank them. People know it takes a long time to send thank you cards.

Ditto.

Unless you're waiting for pictures of you to arrive to send out Thank You cards it's probably a good idea to send Thank Yous out to everyone as soon as you get the gift. This way it's not as overwhelming as it will be when you have a lot more after the wedding.

I read that you should send thank you cards as soon as gifts come in, even if the wedding hasn't happened yet. I'd cash the check right away too so their account isn't in limbo.

You send the thank you card right away and go ahead and deposit the checks. Do you have any epics that you can send them? But i wouldnt worry about the pics since they arent going to the wedding

Send them a regular thank you now-and after the wedding send them the TY you get from your photographer

Deposit the checks now-if you dont you can screw up someone banking-definitely take care of this ASAP

I agree with both ladies. Def deposit the checks now and send a thank you.

We sent out Thank Yous that kind of matched with our colors and theme right away and deposited the checks as soon as the card was in the mail --that way we don't screw up their finances/confuse them. I also wrote in those cards --in addition to thanking them for their generous and thoughtful gift -- that we were sorry they could not attend, but would certainly send a picture from the big day. We plan to send out second Thank Yous --the one with the photo- to those who declined, but sent a gift.
