Hey we signed our contract today and our house is scheduled to be done in June. I am trying to compose a list of things we need to budget money for. Please add on to help me out. I have not come up with much so far. Its a new townhome if that helps any.
I have washer and dryer broom mop curtains
what else? I am sure there is a bunch more.

Check out some of the kmarts that are going out of business you can get towels and shower rings for cheap.. Martha stewart has good stuff!!!

Small dish drain (Even if you have a dishwasher, it's good for a few dishes or items that are not dishwasher safe)
Towel bars hamper floor mats for people to wipe their feet coasters for drinks all celaning supplies paper towel holder paper towels mats for the bathroom

any other appliances you may need toaster / toaster oven microwave coffee maker and coffee or tea bags paper plates and cups/plastic utensils to have until you get everything out a nice bottle of wine, or your beverage of choice (it's so much easier to unpack with some wine or beer!! )

Spackle and a spackling knife.... Painting supplies Old clothes for working Drop cloths Mesh tape to patch wall holes A shop vac - a really good one costs only about $70. A Home Depot credit card
I could go on and on....but, before decorating you have to fix the minor (or major) damage left behind by the previous owners...
Edited to say - Oh! I didn't know this was a new build....but, you know...even a new build does NOT come out perfect, so all of the items mentioned above would be good to have.
