Re: Help with Photogs
I met with only one photographer and booked on the spot. We loved his work and went with our gut. I too thought that maybe that was a hasty decision, but honestly, it was the easiest one we've made during the entire wedding process. We are 100% happy!

Personally I was not thrilled with the customer service at Duet and to me that is a big deal
Thomas Paul gave me more for less $$
If you are going to shop around I would probably go to them last, since you already like their style see what others have to offer and then go to Duet and if they are still your favorite you can book them

Re: Help with Photogs
I met with Duet and booked on the spot, the only photog we met, and they were perfect. I have a lot of pro pics and even Duet video clips in my review.
We had Jay and Brian.
I don't know what the previous poster meant that they wern't thrilled with their customer service- they were SO nice and helpful from our first meeting as well as answering all my emails and calls with my crazy questions along the process, and after as well!

The problem I had was that I drove over an hour to meet with them..my whole appointment was about 10 mins (5 of which was me looking at books)..they basically asked if I wanted albums, gave me a price list and when I asked to see video they told me I could see it on their website.
IMO I am not handing you a lot of $$ if I am not comfortable and I think that since photos are the most important to me I want to be 100% comfortable.. and I personally wasn't..I have seen many girls pics on here that were beautiful..they just weren't for me

Re: Help with Photogs
If you love Duet and know 100% that Duet is the photographer you want, then I don't see anything wrong with booking on the spot.
FH and I only met with one photographer, Lia from Imagine Studios. However, I did do extensive research and looked at a bunch of other photog's work online before meeting with Imagine. However, the soft and romantic style photography of Imagine was exactly what FH and I were looking for. Before meeting with Imagine we def knew that we were going to book with her and our meeting only solidified us wanting to book with her. Lia was so down to earth, we felt completely at ease with her, and we knew that we would be very comfortable with her on our wedding day (afterall you spend the whole day with your photog!!). Additionally, Lia's work is phenomenal!! So FH and I had no hesitations about booking with Imagine Studios even though they were the only photog we met with and I have never once doubted my decision.
If you truly know that you want Duet and if you feel as though you have a great in person meeting as well, I don't think there is anything wrong with booking right away! You will save yourself a lot of time and energy if you are already sure.
You mentioned that you wanted recommendations for other photogs, you should def look into Imagine Studios! Here is the link to their website: http://imaginestudios.net/

Re: Help with Photogs
I am a bit biased as well...since I ADORE Lia and decided on Imagine...but it really depends
Like some others...I was not happy with Duet's customer service. If this aspect does not matter to you...I have heard they take lovely pictures and they are reasonably priced.
When I met with Lia I knew I had made the right decision...even though I loved Duet's photos...I met with Lia of Imagine and just left feeling happy

Re: Help with Photogs
If you are going to shop around, go to Duet last. If you don't book with them on the spot, you run the risk of the price going up the next time you go to them. FM me for details.
Congrats on booking your RH - where did you wind up? NRC?

Re: Help with Photogs
My mother worked as the office manager in a wedding photography studio for over 10 years, so she really knows her stuff. I took her to my meeting with Duet, and as soon as we left, she said book them immediately. They are amazing, my banquet manager at my hall AND my florist (the owner no less) have only praised Duet immensely.
They were the only photographer I looked at.
And I thought there was nothing wrong with Duet's customer service. I thought they were very professional, helpful and knew their stuff. Also, keep in mind....the people you meet in the studio are NOT the people taking pictures on your wedding day. Again, I have only heard raves so far about how artistic all of the photographers at Duet are and how they are 'ninjas.'
I have 110% confidence in their work.
And if you book online, you save 10%.

I agree Duet is more like do it on the web
By the way go on their webpage you can get a price quote on the page and not book. I did it and it came out to about what they quoted me in the studio
I went with Thomas Paul because of his picture quality
I met with 12th night, proline, cassarino, duet and thomas paul I felt that i needed to shop around and I am happy I did

Re: Help with Photogs
After much looking around for months, my mom actually found my photographer and videographer. I fell in love with the both of them, set up an appointment and booked them on the spot. For the price that they gave us and what we are getting, we are very happy! They actually won the brides choice award for 2010 also!!! For booking early they also give a discount and if you book both they also give you a discount!! I don't know if money is an issue, but they also are very reasonable. www.uniquevstudio.com If you have any questions fm me!!

Re: Help with Photogs
Hey! If you have done your research and you know you want Duet - if all goes well at your meeting, I don't think there is anything wrong with booking on spot; especially if you are 100% sure. If you like shop around then narrow it down to the top 3 or 5 vendors and go from there. I pretty much had an inkling as to whom we were going to choose but I had already narrowed down my top 5 and made appointments all in one weekend and almost risked losing my date, so go with your gut. If anything I say you should go to them last since they seem to be top dawg on your list.
Regarding other photographers with similar style – I highly recommend Lighthouse Photography!!!! I was blown away by all of their work –phenomenal quality– some of the pictures left me speechless and the package pricing blew almost everyone out of the water. Definitely go check them out. Duet was in my top 5 but they had my date booked. Best of luck!! FM if you want more info on Lighthouse. Hope this helps.
