Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

Hi all.....looking into a great place on the island for a beach ceremony and reception hall nearby. We'd like to have a place that has a 'secluded' beach location and a short travel to reception hall is not a problem. Our budget is about $100-$150/pp.....we've looked at Land's End and Atlantica online....and would like to know if anybody has any more information about them. Plus any other ideas would be greatly appreciated...thanks!!!! Looking forward to some responses.

How about the Crescent. It's been a few years since I've been there. It's one of our favorite restaurants. The beach even has palm trees....

The Crescent Beach Club is a nice on the beach location. On the North Shore in Bayville.
You are literally on the sand with the ocean behind you.
I thinks Sands Lido Beach or Atlantic Beach can have ceremonies on the beach.

I visited the Lands End also, thats really beautiful, but way out there.Theres a few in the Hamptons as well- Gurneys Inn.

There are more waterfront places then there are beaches.

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

We visited the Crescent but The Price was almost 200. PP And I didn't care for their decor it was very floridian looking reminded me of the golden girls furniture. BUT I heard they have since remodeled. Check them out it has a beautiful view.

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

Crescent is about 200 for Sat night. Try the day we are paying 100 plus tax and tip. And you get married right on the beach!!!!

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

Wow, I guess we're really going to pay in order to get the wedding we want......$200/pp is very steep....but I'm sure it's at least worth looking into. We have appointments at Atlantica and Lands End on Thurs.....and I'm going to get in touch with Cresent. Thanks for all of the input. I don't like the idea of Floridian Golden Girl decor either...but if they've remodelled, it may be worth the trip. Will keep everyone updated. Thank you

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

It's not Floridian anymore, it looks beautiful! But I think I may be biased. Anyway, for a Sat. night it is pricey, but an afternoon affair is quite a bit less. We really wanted a night time wedding, and I'm glad we're having one, but we will be missing some of the gorgeous views you have during the day. I would check it out at least. We love the fact that it's somewhat untraditional as far as wedding venues go. I don't know what look you're going for, but you won't find too much marble, mirrors or chandeliers there.

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

No, we're more interested in great food and service, as well as a pretty view. I'm trying to plan the date around a full-moon, so that the moon will shine over the water and light things up a bit. I think we would prefer high ceilings, but chandeliers and marble are a bit much for our tastes. I would love to find a mansion on the water (with old victorian style), but I think that's nearly impossible. The possibility also exists of just having a beach ceremony somewhere secluded and travelling a little way to a reception sight. All I know is that if we're having a 2005 wedding, we need to get the ball rolling!!!

These boards have been a tremendous help.....although I haven't found many negatives about anything, I'm sure not every place is perfect---so I'd love to know where I can find the places to stay away from. Does anybody know of a thread that has information regarding horrible wedding experiences? At least that would save me some time and trips out to the island (if I knew where NOT to look).

Thank you ladies for helping ease this whole process.....I'm really beginning to look forward to this planning thing!!

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

Bourne Mansion is on the water - so is vanderbilt and timber point - not a beach wedding but grass up to the water - very pretty

Re: Help with Reception/Ceremony Location

We are getting married at Land's End. I first fell in love with the location being right on the water. I also heard a lot of good things about this place. So we decided to book with them.

The people we have dealt with at Land's End were all so gracious, helpful and sweet, specifically Jen and Marietta. The food there is soo good. Everyone enjoyed the tasting. I noticed which was interesting that your wedding date is about a year after mine. So funny!
