Help...Am I a rotten person

I had my shower yesterday!!! Yeay but it was done on my 30Th b-day. Now my wedding is in feb. Am I wrong to be a little upset that it was on my birthday. I think they could have done it a little later. I know that december and the end of november were out of the question but I feel like a rotten person being upset that it was on my b-day. I was hoping to have just a fun day with man shopping and then have dinner with my family and of course I was looking forward to all the 30 b-day jokes etc. But .....my b-day was really missed. Help me....am I a horrible rotten person?????

Re: Help...Am I a rotten person

I don't think you're a horrible rotten person...turning 30 is a big deal...and I felt the same way when I turned 30 last year.

My FH gave me my bday gift the week before my bday...and on my actual 30th I got nothing from him...I was so upset and cried...but I quickly got over it.

Listen...don't be upset. Maybe they really wanted to surprise you and thought you'd have no idea if it was on your bday. Maybe they plan on taking you out for dinner this week to celebrate your bday. I'm sure they didn't forget the fact that it's also your 30th.

I'm sorry this upset you... ...and by the way...HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY!!!

Re: Help...Am I a rotten person

thanks Fanksbride.....but my sister (who really put a lot of work and money into my shower) said 'I didn't get you card or anything I spent enough on your shower'. I felt like ****. Sorry you had the expense.... I am very sad today.

Awww... ...

That was a mean thing to say to you that she couldn't buy a card! Hey, Hallmark has those cute 99cent ones now...she could've at least done that!!!

I don't think you are mean or rotten, but maybe you can refocus. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime, special event, birthdays come every year. Maybe you can do your birthday celebration another day? Just because it's not on your actual birthday doesn't mean you cannot celebrate!
I'm sure your family put alot of love, time and effort into your shower, try to focus and be happy about that, not on the inconveinence of the date they chose.

Re: Help...Am I a rotten person

happy birthday!
i would feel the same
i take birthdays very seriously and i like to have lots of attention on me for that day
maybe it's because i share my birthday with my grandparent's anniversary.....
i think you should get an extra birthday dinner for this one....but i wouldn't suggest mentioning your unhappiness to anyone involved in your shower, because that might make you seem ungrateful....
that's a tough one

Well, I can understand your feelings. Thirthy is a big one and I would have wanted mine separate. I think I would have been hurt if my sister didnt get me a card for my 30th because of my shower either. You might want to talk to her about it and tell her your feeling a little hurt about that. BUT......since whats done is done i bet you were really surprised because it was on your birthday, and now you can just get on with dreaming about your special day. Thats the important thing. :)

You are not a rotten person.

My Bat Mitzvah was the day after my birthday, and I was very sad that almost no one remembered my birthday.

And I'm getting married 9 days after my birthday. Don't think that isn't in the back of my mind.

What I would do is take a deep breath and think about the beautiful shower you had. Your sister was a little insensitive, but we all have our moments.

One cake for every 10 years and one for good luck!

Re: Help...Am I a rotten person

I do not think you are a horrible person at all. I am turing the big 30 exactly two weeks before my wedding and I still want my birthday to be special. A few people think I am being very selfish by wanting this, but I do not feel like I am. One person even told me they think it is very rude of me to want a party knowing that people are going to be giving me wedidng gifts two weeks later. Origianlly my BMs wanted to have my bachlorette party on my birthday since it falls on a Saturday night, but I did not want that.

I still want a special birthday and I think you are right for wanting one also.

Happy Birthday

Re: Help...Am I a rotten person

Ohhh can I relate! My shower was on my 25th birthday and while the shower was beautiful I was disappointed it was that day. By the time the shower was over, everyone was so tired and this birthday dinner that I planned had to be cancelled!!
