So my grandmother is pretty up there in age and has a hard time getting around. She still lives on her own, but my mom helps out a lot. However, my mom knows that she'll be running around and helping ME out on the wedding day and was thinking about hiring someone to take care of my grandmother on that day.
Does anyone know where we would begin to search for someone like this? A nurse type person to be there to help out?
TIA!

Re: Helper Nurse
sounds like its a caregiver that you need. i'd call & ask a local healthcare staffing agency to get details & pricing.
do you have a relative/close fam friend who you can ask first to help your grandma?

Re: Helper Nurse
I'm sure you could also call local nursing homes and they could probably give you information on who to contact for traveling nurse services. Try googleing it also. HTH!

Yeah I think a caregiver is what we need but I don't exactly know where to find one.
We don't want to have a relative fill the role because we want everyone to enjoy themself, we'd rather just hire someone for support.

Re: Helper Nurse
My aunt is a caregiver...not professionally, just on the side. She has been helping my grandmother take care of my grandfather recently, but in the past she has helped out many elderly people (demented and not). You can shoot me a FM and i can get you in contact with her.
You can also talk to your grandmothers primary doctor and they might be able to see you up with someone. It might be a tad tricky to find someone just for one day though.

Re: Helper Nurse
I'm an RN (almost NP) and just wanted to tell you that you definitely do not want to hire an actual nurse... you'd have to pay a nurse about $40 an hour.... you're looking for an aide who will charge you about half of that! Look up home health aides.

Re: Helper Nurse
I work in the home health care field and what you what is def. a private duty caregiver. You should do a google search for local home health agencies in the area and tell them you're looking for an hourly caregiver. This would be considered a private pay service (if they ask when you call).

I used to work for Maxim Healthcare Services, we had a lot of high-profile clientele. Try them, I really liked working for them.
