HELP.....Kid friendly reception (Starting to freak out a little!!)
Well you ladies know that I'm having my ceremony/reception in my backyard. We have two children (3 1/2yrs and 2 1/2 months old) So obviously we were going to have a 'family friendly' reception. But now that almost all the rsvp's are in it looks like there are going to be 22!!!! kids at my wedding!!! Four of them are under 6 months old and the rest range from 2 1/2 yrs to 12 yrs old!!! Thats more kids than I had at my sons birthday party!!! How the he!! am I supposed to keep 22 kids busy!!! I had bought some cute kiddie favors and activity books, I even got a pinata, but not enough for that many children!! I already spent alot on kids stuff I don't see it in the ever dwindling budget to buy more!!! And all I keep picturing is crying, screaming laughing and heckling during the ceremony!!! Oh God, it's just 10 days away , what can I think of to amuse so many kids ranging so drastic in age!!! I think I am going to have a 'board game' table with Monopoly, Pictonary, Jenga and other various games but can you ladies think of anything else!! Family friendly is one thing , I just didn't know I'd be throwing a kiddie party along side my wedding

maybe you should consider hiring 2-3 ppl to act as 'baby sitters' during the ceremony and thru out the reception. like keep the kids inside during the ceremony (except your kids obviously) and the sitters can keep them entertained with movies, games, crafts, etc.
a friend of mine got some long tables and set them up in her living room for a kid's party and bought lots of crafts and such and the kids were entertained for awhile.

maybe you can rent a clown outfit or something for the 2 girls and have an area where she keeps most of the children at least durning the cermony time, I totally understand, thats the only reason FH doesn;t want kids at our wedding is for the cermony

how bout renting a moon bounce or maybe a cotton candy machine and face painting or tatoos. but i think the moon bounce will keep them busy for hours. i dunno just a thought

I will have the same 'kid situation' but at a hall, so you are not alone!.. I agree on having at least 2 babysitters on hand for 22 kids and I'd set up somewhere for them to go with some activities to keep them busy without being disruptive to your day, whether it be an area with some crafts or games, etc.. which can be quiet for you and still fun for them..

i think you have it covered as well as you can. sounds like you have some activities for them to do, and people coming to 'watch' them. my friend had her weddign at a hall with probably the same number of kids... and it was a MADHOUSE!! she had a whole craft table set up for them, and a couple people there watching/playing with them ( it was all in the same room as the reception)... but the kids were still running all around the dance floor so much that the older people couldn't dance even if they wanted to! it was pretty bad! but, they also are very religious and had no alcohol and no real ' dancy' music either so, that could have been part of it.
so i think no matter what you do or how hard you try, it'll still get a little bit chaotic. it sounds like you've got it pretty covered, and i'm sure it'll be great! you'll have your DH and your families there- what more do you want?!

Get a bunch of paper adn scissors and yarn, they can make their own book-markers. You can also get cheap face paint and have the girls face paint. Maybe set aside a 'movie time' for all teh kids.....make them their own itinerary:
Example:
4:00 - Wedding Ceremony
4:30 - Juice & Cookies
5:00 - Coloring
5:30 - Face Painting
6:00 - Dinner
6:30 - Pinata
7:00 - Movie time in the house (tell them to bring their favorite stuffed animal and PJs!)
