It seems that Westbury has the outdoor that I am looking for and as the FH says just a whole lot homier and warmer, but I am a bit turned off by the low ceilings in Westbury...I always envisioned a high ceiling which is what Fox Hollow brings... I am in love with the Winter Garden Pavilion!! But then I am in love with the grounds at Westbury...HELP!
I know there are good reviews on both but would love to see some bad stuff people...I only saw one bad review. lol I know ya'll are out there somewhere. How is Westbury when it rains? The noise at Fox Hollow if having ceremony outside? Any accidents with having more than one wedding at a time at either?
Thanks

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
I went to a wedding at Westbury Manor in April of 07...Her ceremony was scheduled for outside among the tulips but unfortunately with that April day came a ton of rain. They ended up getting married indoors. And honestly, the wedding was amazing. From the food to the service to everything, it was like the place was lacking nothing. Really great wedding!

I'm getting married at the Fox Hollow. One thing to thing about, if you are in LOVE with the Fox Hollow because of the Winter Garden Pavillon you need to keep the guest list in mind. That room can't hold more than 150. I looked at the WM too and I loved them both. I went with Fox Hollow because of the times available at the WM and i LOVE the WGP.

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
I am getting married at the Fox Hollow because of the Winter Garden Pavilion. I looked at many places (not the Westbury Manor) and fell in love with the open, non-catering hall feel of Fox Hollow. Also, I am having a small wedding so the WGP was the perfect size for me. So far, whenever I tell anyone where I am having my wedding, they only have good things to say.
Keep in mind that if you are having an evening wedding/reception, you won't see the grounds since it's dark out. If all you want is a beautiful setting for your photos, try one of the many outdoor gardens on LI.
I had the same concerns about the outdoor ceremony at Fox Hollow which is why I went back to getting married in a church. Schedule another visit to Fox Hollow and walk around the outdoor ceremony site. See how much of the traffic you can really hear. Remember you will probably have music and there will be speaking so if the noise is not that bad in total silence, it will probably be non-existent for your day.

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
I got married at F.H. because of the winter garden pavil. In fact, that was the 14th and final place I looked. I loved every second of my time there. Never had a problem with another wedding, and there was one the same night as mine...(it started 2 hrs earlier)
The food = same. The service = same. Both have beautiful grounds....WM has peacocks.
It just comes down to personal preference of the rooms...

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
I looked at both and I made my decision with those 2 as my final choices. I chose Fox Hollow because I loved the feel and the staff that I worked with. My wedding is April so the grounds were not my biggest concern as I am prepared for rain. To me, the Fox Hollow seemed more like home and the place we could see ourselves getting married in. (We were looking at the big rooms and Fox Hollow's was nicer IMO, but that wouldn't factor in your decision bc you are interested in the WGP)

i am getting married at the Fox Hollow and my brother got married at Westbury Manor.
Both are gorgeous and the service and food and everything is basically the same.
it's really a choice of personal prefferance.
lol a peacock at WM bit my butt that's the only bad thing i have to say about the place lol

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
i went and looked at both, and i definitly liked WM more, but its all personal preference. just dont pick a place based on the grounds outside because it could rain, and then if youre stuck in a place where you feel the inside is just okay, you might regret it in the end. go with the place that has the most to offer, with both the inside and outside, and has the feel that youre going for.

I've been to a number of affairs at both, and frankly, I prefer WM. Layout of the rooms, the service and food are just better.

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
I looked at both places. I loved the Winter Garden room but, you need a small amount of people without being over crowded. The BM had shown it to me for the CH and was giving us the Barrier Fox Room, I think that was the name but, I didnt like that room as much as I liked the other one. So an issues was the guest list if we wanted the Winter Garden room. The place for the ceremony was nice but, worried me because of the car situation, passing and the noise. I went to a wedding there and all in all the food and all were great! After seeing the Fox Hollow I went to WM and it felt so homey and comfy. Alittle more in price but, really liked the gardens and they were giving us alittle more as well. The ceiling did feel low but, the rooms were really pretty. I felt the room we were going to have was alittle small. In the end we ended up somewhere else but, each place has great things about them, sorry. GL

Re: Help...Torn between Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow
I visted 4 halls when looking. Two of them being WM and Fox Hollow. I did not end up going for either of them b/c of personal preferences (I chose the Inn at new Hyde Park) but both seemed great. I would vote for westbury manor (especially if it is a larger party).

You can not hear the noise outside at the Fox Hollow. As for the two weddings there, they tried their best to keep us separate, but I will not lie I did see the other bride once (I am pretty sure she did not see me as I poked my head out of the bridal suite to see what all the noise coming from outside was) The service at FH was absolutely amazing in every way though. If you want to know more specifics check out my review or FM me.

They are both nice and either way your wedding will be nice. I like the WM better though. I personally think the food and SERVICE is better.
