Great list, but I would think that wedding photographers would know what shots to get... is it better for them to have a list like that?? I would just like my photographers to go w/ the flow of the day and shoot up a storm! Is everyone giving their photographer a list????
You would think, right?, but I was told by a number of recent brides...'make sure you give your photographers a list, because they missed alot of shots with family members...'
Nessa- Thanks, that's a huge help
There should be an in-between. Giving a list of portfolio combinations of family (with names) is very helpful. Giving a list that includes types of photos, pictures of other brides that you must recreate, or that is multiple pages seems overkill to me. Many professional wedding photographers (including a LI photographer) agreed that it is seen as micro-managing or a high-maintenance bride when they see a list like that that's more than one page.
I'm just saying to give this some thought before you approach your photographer with this. Make an independant decision based on your trust of the photographer, their portfolio, and your opinion of their skill rather than doing what everyone else has done.

I agree... we ended up not giving any list at all!
I'm so happy I didn't b/c my photographer got amazing shots that I would have never even thought of! You just have to trust your photog to get the candid shots... maybe a list with fam shots is okay, but we didn't even do that and got all the ones we wanted.

I agree with you ladies...I didn't give our photographer a single list or requirement. Granted there are shots that we probably missed...but so what? I have AWESOME photos and could not be happier with his work! Personally, all the posed shots with family that DH insisted on are my least favorite...they seem so contrived. The random candids are my absolute favorites...and the ones that seem candid of me and DH b/c I grasped the idea of 'ignoring' the photographer quite well!
