Re: here's the dress...what about veil and a headpiece
I totally recommend going to C&H in the city. She makes them quick and cheap. She totally helped me pick mine. I brought her pictures of my dress and she gave her recommendations.I recommend something elegant/romantic with some sparkle.

Re: here's the dress...what about veil and a headpiece
i second C&H.Bring a picture of the dress to her and she can make whatever you decide. She'll help you decide on the veil of your dreams, or something to match your dress, or both!

Re: here's the dress...what about veil and a headpiece
Your dress is beautiful. Very medival/gothic so maybe you can with that sort of theme. What kind of hair do you have? Do you want it up or down?
I have a few ideas for you but knowing if you want it up or down is key.
Then I'll find some photos for you.

Re: here's the dress...what about veil and a headpiece
My advice is going to be biased to assume that you want to look thinner/leaner on your wedding day. I of course have no clue what you look like so im just assuming that since most woman want to be thinner. But if are already really tall and very slim, then this may not be the best advice.Since your very beautiful dress has bell sleeves - that will widen your look a bit so I think you should go with thin but long veil to elongate the line of your frame.
I always tend to steer clear of poofy veils but especially with your style of dress - i think a simple but dramatic veil will really set off the gothic tone of the gown.
As for hairstyle you are pretty much free to do anything. This bride choose a beautiful knotted chignon.
As for headpiece - I would defintely say no big tiara. Doesn't really work with that style of dress plus you have some beautiful detail so I don't think you need something overly elaborate. But there are lots of alternatives.
I really loved this style of headpiece on my friend but it may not be for you.

Re: here's the dress...what about veil and a headpiece
the material of the first veil seems like the same os the sleeves of my dress..do you know anthing about the picture (ie: where the veil came from, what its made of, etc??)And yes, we all want to be thinner!! I sat and tried on head pieces yesterday, and had a hard time looking at 'me' in the mirror for that long.
I hear you with the longer veil, but what to do all night long??? Also, I dont want to hide the work in the back of the dress...
thanks stef, et al

Re: here's the dress...what about veil and a headpiece
Thats brides veil is silk tulle. Very, very expensive. You can have something similiar done with chiffon (which is not as transparent) or a high grade of bridal illusion tulle.
For your gown, I think its best to take the veil off after the ceremony since you have some beautiful detail in the back. If you want to keep one on for the whole night but not hide any of the back detail, you will need a very short one.

Re:'here's'the'dress...what'about'veil'and'a'headpiece
Stef...do you know where one could:
a. Have that type of veil made
OR
b. Purchase the material to have a crafty mother make the veil

Re: Re:'here's'the'dress...what'about'veil'and'a'headpiece
If your mom can sew than you are in luck. Just go into the fabric district in manhattan (in the 30s near 6th Avenue) and try different shops until you find a fabric you love. Just bring a picture and most shops should be able to help.I had my veil made by Ann at www.glamgal.com but I knew i didn't want to spend the money on silk tulle so i didn'te ven ask. Ann has reasonable prices comparatively speaking but doing it yourself is the way to go if you know someone who can.
