Is anyone planning on 'consumating' their marriage before the reception...or during?
we are driving ourselves there...so it's not completely out of the question- especially since we'll have a hotel room nearby...
as long as he doesn't mess up my hair, I'll consider it!

Well.... FH and I are Jewish and after the ceremony, in lieu of a receiving line we are participating in 'Yichud' which is immediately after the ceremony.
Yichud is the period of time following the ceremony when the bride and the groom spend their first moments alone as husband and wife. This time alone symbolizes their new relationship and allows them to share their first meal (could be a symbolic meal of a few bites of food) together before joining the reception or in our case - the cocktail hour. Way back many many many many years ago it was believed that this was when the Jewish marriage was consummated and a woman's virginity was proved (do the math guys so I don't have to get gross).
Our Yichud will take place in the Bridal Room but I sincerely doubt we will consummate the relationship since our ceremony and reception are in a Temple. I could never have 'marital relations' in a house of G-d. I think it would be disrespectful.

in all honesty i would like to in-between the ceremony and the reception, but and this way TMI - i am sooo prone to uti's that i'm afraid that i'll get one if we do it before the reception. so it'll probably be the night of

I don't think we would ever be alone anyway. Even if we are in the bridal suite someone will be there, whether it's part of the BP or bridal attendant.
I never even thought of this!!!

I wish we could but right now we can't even figure out how we're going to have time for our photos!!! Besides, I think we prefer to go the traditional route and wait till the wedding night!!
