here's a suggestion on how to get MORE VIEWS AND POSTS to your question!

here's a suggestion on how to get MORE VIEWS AND POSTS to your question!

i rarely read posts that have a title like 'anyone use' 'does anyone' 'can you' 'need help' etc, and then leave the rest of the question for the body of the post.

it would be helpful if you put some reference to what you want to know in the post title. you'll get more views, it's easier to find posts, and you'll get more responses. people always complain that they don't get enough responses, and this may be part of the problem.

so for example:

do this:
'does anyone know anything about this seller on ebay'

instead of:

'anyone know' or 'need help'

I hope i'm making sense--it's impossible to find a post just by title if it doesn't give any reference to the topic in the post!!

i'm not talking about anyone in particular and truly want to help make the boards more helpful.

Totally agree...I only read posts with ambiguous titles if I'm really bored and have a lot of time on my hands....

Re: here's a suggestion on how to get MORE VIEWS AND POSTS to your question!

Great suggestion. I, too, never really read 'need help' or 'Do you...' posts...

Im defintely guilty of being a very specific question poster. Most of the threads I have started are two/three line titles because I want to spark interest in people that care about the topic. Sometimes they are TOO Long! Sorry girls!

Re: here's a suggestion on how to get MORE VIEWS AND POSTS to your question!

I agree! I very rarely go into posts that say, 'Need help with...'. And if I DO, I get so annoyed when it's nothing I could have helped with anyway, like '...good doggie shampoo'.

If I had KNOWN it was about doggie shampoo, I wouldn't have gone in, because I don't have a dog - haven't since I was 5. (5 year olds don't really pay attention to brands...lol).

HOWEVER, someone who may have a VERY strong opinion about doggie shampoo maybe never read the rest of the post since the topic was vague... therefore you're missing out on a valuable opinion.

Thanks for posting the good advice!

I think people use that as a ploy so your more curious to go in and read the post. Apparantly it doesnt work for most but I go in them because I am curious.

Re: here's a suggestion on how to get MORE VIEWS AND POSTS to your question!

bump.. i think these are really good tips and there are alot of newbies here.

The more specific the topic in your post, the more views/posts you will get.

People are too lazy when you just put 'Help for a friend' or 'wedding advice' to click on them.
