hey everyone I need some helpp---

Original post by MrsS4

Hello everyone,

My name is Chrissy & im a little new to both the site & wedding planning-- I may be planning a little early but I truly want to be prepared for my big day!!!

I want to know about how much my wedding will run us as well as a little help with finding a hall... I truly had my heart set on Oheka Castle, however my father I believe will only give 50k so as I have estimated-- 20k site fee & 250$ per head will already have me way above and beyond the 50k just for the hall-- I have no problem spending more then 50k on the wedding-- I am almost positive it will be over 70k however I am now looking for a different hall-- I really do not want another wedding to take place during mine-- I do however like the was Leonards looks & the food and rooms are just beautiful-- I have not yet priced it-- but we are looking to have less then 200 people. Does anyone know another hall that resembles either Oheka or Leonards on Long Island---

Thank you soo muchh--

Chrissy

I had my wedding at Leonards and because of the fact that I got married in November, I was the only wedding there that day (random luck). I have to say, their service was excellent and the food was great. We went with alot of the upgrades in regards to menu, venetian hour, etc and it was totally worth it.

I would go and talk to Oheka Castle. My MOH is getting married their in Sept. 08 and she got them down in site fee and per head. It isn't a significant amount, but it was enough for her to have the wedding there. Also take in account the day of the week and season and you could be looking at your wedding there.

I got married at Oheka. They worked with me on price! FM me if you have any questions about that!

You should check out Floral Terrace it is 1 wedding at a time and can hold like 500 people

My DH wanted to get married @ the Oheka cause he thought we might catch a break being we have some pull. Bottom line is it was still not enough to make me book it! Our break was the site fee waved but the per head price was still a bit over $300 w/out tax - not including the extras you need to consider. Valet, extra Matre'd
example (coat check),extra rooms in the estate, gratuities, the list goes on. So really your base price is now increasing.
I herd stories from guests that have attended weddings there and they have ALL mentioned the food is very average or even sometimes not editable.
Your paying for the beautiful property ,ambiance & Name.
A bit overrated for getting your money's worth.
I herd stories from Brides I know personally that had their wedding there and they loved the castle. (It is beautiful) but keeping in mind their budget was well over $300.000 so at that point I am sure it is great - brides barely eat their food anyway. lol

I went to a wedding of someone years back and it was very pretty, and had a similar feel to you what you might be looking for. It is a compromise but go check it out if you have not already.

If anything else comes to mind I will let you know.
I think there are lots of estates that are 'mansion' like in NJ area and upstate Westechster if your willing to have your guests travel.
In the meantime - good luck on your findings :)

glad u liked jt :) if u like the decor and that elegance, i'd also suggest checking out Leonards of Great Neck...thats another beautiful location for a reasonable price :) we also liked the winter garden pavillion at fox hollow but the room maxed out at 150. good luck!

ps: 'The Estate' at east wind is also really nice..they have 3reception areas...'Country Gardens' which is also really nice but geared towards a smaller wedding, and another one as well....The Estate is my favorite

You may want to try Caffe on the Green in Bayside...not quite a mansion, but not quite a house either

Many girls have had their wedding there. Its right on the water. If you do a search for venetian yacht club on the review board you'll find some pictures and reviews.

Another place that might be the style you're looking for...El Caribe?
