Hey ladies!!! 218 days till wedding and I am just getting started!!

I am going to leave my deposit at my RH this weekend, my date is August 21, 2010. And that is the only thing that I have done so far for the wedding. The next thing on my list is to finalize my guest list and get the save the dates out. If I had an unlimited budget I would just get David Tutera to do his thing. But I dont have an unlimited budget.... I barely even have a budget!!! So I will be doing this on my own with the help of FH and my awesome sis, mom, and dad.

I want everything to be as perfect and well planned as possible... I am just worried that I may not have enough time.

Question: For those of you that have gotten your dress already... How long did/do you have to wait for alterations?

just want to say congrats on booking the RH!!!! dress i cant really help with - mine came in 2 days ago and is sitting at my parents house. have to find somewhere to get it altered!!

I think you usually start alterations about 2 months before?

oh, only two months?

I have no idea why I thought it took longer. Well the dress is what I am going to tackle next month. I am praying that I am the sample size!! : ) I doubt it but I will still pray!

We got engaged last april, but, I had problems with my dress coming in, and we switched RH's back in the beginning of september. And I have a very demanding job. So don't let that worry you. My sister was engaged in October of 2002 and got married in May of 2003. AND planned her wedding from out of state! So you definitely have plenty of time!

oh wait, did u mean how long was I planning on for alterations??? i am a bit out of it, i'm sorry. if that's what you mean, i am hoping to have my first (and only) fitting in like mid march. my dress fits perfectly except the sleeves need to be taken in a little and it needs a hem!! it's like 5 feet too long lol

Most bridal shops usually start alterations about 6 weeks before the wedding.

You can plan it in 218 days, girl!! I'm getting married August 22 and just started planning a month ago. In that month I got the RH, a dress, photographer/.video, hotel block, and am ready to order BM dresses and almost ready to book dj!!

I'm not 100% sure about alterations - I ordered my dress at the end of November and they say it should be in in March

alterations are done about a month or two in advance BUT many dresses take 6 months (or even more) to come in ... unless you pay the extra rush-charge. I don't want ot make you feel rushed to find a dress .... just be aware of it

my dress store told me it could take up to 8 months to get my dress in!!!

This may seem like a silly question...

Why do you have to wait so long for the dresses to come in? Do they make them when you order them or something? I thought the majority of the time was spent waiting for alterations.

the rh is the biggest thing-i know my alterations start about 2 months before, so i would try to order a dress/bm dresses asap-and then do everything else!

Congrats! I was told my dress would come two months before my wedding. I don't think you would need more time than that for alterations. I would start looking for a dress though bc mine is taking 8 months to come in. Good luck

Not sure if you are interested but I got my gown at David's Bridal and it came in 6 weeks. They are really quick
