Hey ladies! **Updated with some pix**

Hope everyone is doing well!

I've been MIA from the boards lately. I have been so busy with work (working a lot of OT) and with the holidays. I've also been kind of in a rut. Haven't felt like doing anything wedding related. But with lil under 10 months to go I am hoping I snap out of it soon!

I did go dress shopping for the 1st time though right after Thanksgiving wknd. I went to RK Bridal and Davids Bridal in the city. I had a list of about 10-12 dresses I wanted to try on at RK but sadly they only had about 4 of them in the store and I couldnt try them on bcuz the sample was too small (sizes 10-12) for me I wear a street size 16 so I needed atleast a 16 or higher. So I was limited to basically 1 rack of dresses to pick from. But I did find 3 dresses I really liked. The 1st one I think I am almost in love with but we will see. Next stop was DB. My consultant pulled 5 dresses for me to try on. 1 was similar to the one I think I am in love with from RK but wasnt enough bling. The others I didnt like. The last one was my fave to try but it was a size 14 so I was worried about getting into it. She got me into the dress but it was tight and of course didnt close so it looked terrible. I felt like a sack of potatoes lol I asked to try on more dresses but the consultant told me no bcuz they normally only do 5 in an appt but I was free to make another appt. I got annoyed bcuz the store was empty. I went on a Monday and literally there was like 1 other bride in the store. Plus I didnt like pretty much any of the dresses and I took the day off so no I dont want to make another appt. Im here now, I want to try more dresses on now! Lol I would have understood if the store was busy but it wasnt. So I left there kind of annoyed and not thrilled with dress shopping. I had another appt a few days later at Kleinfelds but decided to cancel. I might reschedule for a date in the new yr.

While trying on dresses I didnt get emotional or anything so I am wondering if I am going to be the bride who cries when its the one lol Right now, I dont think so...

Well if you 'think' its the one its def not. Dont get discouraged. I had a horrible experience at DB too so Im not suprised by that. I also was able to walk into a lot of salons when I went on off days.. I think I only had maybe 1 or 2 appts total the whole time I was dress shopping but I'm also out east on the island. Keep looking. Its def out there and dont get discouraged by these rediculous sample sizes. I dont know who they think they are dressing with these samples

I agree! Don't get discouraged! If you find that you keep comparing all other dresses to that first dress, it's yours! I wasn't quick to commit or emotional about it either. After you try on enough dresses, you'll find that there will be one you can't get off of your mind. :) side note: I did get emotional when MY dress came in and I tried it on. It held a lot more meaning than the sample.

i had trouble with 'seeing' myself in dresses that didnt close as well, but some attendants are better than others and can make them look like they fit, even if you cant zipper it an inch!

i had a bad experience at DB too. but they for sure would have let me try on more than 5 (if i hadnt walked out lol)

I must have went to 7-8 stores, I found my dress at Kleinfeild,when I found my 'dress'... I dint cry lol... I was sooo taken back and quiet.... Maybe because I had a crowd of people staring. ( i'm very shy)..... You will know when you try on the one. But your reaction may not be what you thought. lol

It's okay if you don't cry, I didn't cry I was kind of a little bit in shock :) I was happy, for sure. But in the moment it was more of a relief to have made a decision lol. When i picked it up and took it home, THAT was a special day :) Trying on dresses can be a pain, especially when the attendants and/or whoever you are with are telling you it looks good when you *know* it doesn't. It's frustrating :P make sure you take honest people!! But have fun with it :) If it isn't fun now, i would wait and take a break and go back with a clear mind :)

I agree with all of these ladies. I tried on lots of dresses. I went to two different David's Bridals and both had horrible service in one way or another. When you find YOUR dress, we all react differently. I was quiet for a little bit, then people in the store started to comment on how beautiful it was, then I smiled and looked at my Mom. When I looked at her, that's when I got a little teary eyed, then she smiled too, and I knew it was my dress. Have fun and enjoy this process. I found that smaller groups of people accompanying during the process me made my experience more enjoyable; because I was able to gather my thoughts and not have a million people throwing in their opinions. I also agree...LOL...when you put on THE dress you just know! You can picture yourself walking down the aisle in it.

Hi Jassy! Miss you! I haven't been on in forever either.

Don't worry about the whole crying thing. I didn't cry when I found my dress. I have to say the way I knew is because I didn't want to take the dress off at all! Whatever you choose, I know you will look amazing in it!

Thanks for the encouraging words ladies! I know my dress is out there. I can't wait to find it.

I only say I 'think' about that 1st dress because its just that.. the FIRST dress. I did love it though and didn't want to take it off. Had pretty much everything I seem to love... fitted on top with lots of bling and drama on the bottom! But just can't commit yet. I didn't try on enough dresses. Plus there are 2 dresses that I still really hope I can find some where to try on. Also, I am glad that I am not the only one who may not shed tears when I do find the one

Here is a pic of the 2nd and 3rd dresses I really like.. all different!

The 2nd dress isn't the exact dress I tried on but my consultant didn't write down the correct style # and I can't seem to find the exact dress I tried on. But the one I did try on was very similar but had beading/bling along the top outline and a broach/pin thingy on the side. I totally didn't think I would like that type of dress on me but it looked really good. I felt it didn't have enough bling so the consultant put a belt on me and I loved it!

The 3rd dress I surprisingly really liked as well. It felt like a princess gown which I didn't think I would like but it was really pretty. The pic doesn't do it justice but in person it was really blingy and the bottom kind of sparkled. Don't think its the one though.

I love the 3rd dress, but I'm partial to very plain skirts.
