The summer is coming to an end....how do you feel about that? Oddly enough, I miss work. I mean, I LOVE staying home and hanging with my DH and puppy, but since I'm home ALL I do is clean lol I'm a clean freak and find stuff to do....I feel like I'm getting TOO comfortable just lounging around. It's time to get back into the swing of things, although I KNOW that after a month or so I'll be ready for a break LOL
I don't know if it is the same in all schools, but I'm certified to teach 7-12 (English) and my HS is a Junior/Senior HS that goes from grades 7-12. This year I'm teaching 7th grade and 10th grade.....what is your scheduele like?

Yeah, I'd have to say this summer FLEW by...probably b/c I have been running around planning for the wedding and planning for FSIL's shower + bachelorette party. The thing I DREAD the most is...taking all the crap I crammed into my closet at the end of the year and setting it all up. I hate walking into my classroom and seeing desks and chairs piled up 6 feet high. I need to hire people to set up my room this year, hehe. Have a great school year. Hope you have good kids!!!!

Thankfully our desks and chairs are in place. I dread cutting HUGE sheets of that butcher block to get the bulletin boards going lol Have a great year too!

Re: Hey teachers.......it's almost time...
I feel as though this summer went so quick. I was in school most of July, teaching the NEST program this fall. And I also have to start 3 days earlier then everyone else. So I really only have 2 weeks left. Plus I feel as though the faster I go back to school the faster my wedding will be here and I have so much to do yet....
But when I look at the big picture I really like what I do and the Fall is a beautiful fun time of year so I guess I am ALMOST ready to go back, lol

I teach first grade. I'm going in on the 25th to start setting up. Our first official day is Aug 28th (two days of meetings)
I already went to Lakeshore and Island Art Supply to avoid those ridiculous lines.

omg that toll is a killer
I commuted to the Bronx for FIVE years so I feel your pain. I found someone to carpool with and we took turns driving and paying the toll. Now I work in Queens right by the border of Nassau and I started carpooling again because the price of gas is a b!tch.
Is there anyone you can carpool with? Hugs to you!!!

Hey, is it worth becoming a teacher just to have the vacations & summer's off!! HEHE lol It sounds like a great life, but I know the 'grass is never greener on the other side.'

I am totally not ready to go back. This was such a great summer and I do not want it to end. But I miss seeing my friends everyday (I work with a lot of friends) and I miss the schedule it puts me on.
I will be teaching the same thing I have been teaching for the past 5 years. 7th grade special ed. english, and I love it

People always say that but they just don't know how exhausting this job is. Teachers NEED that time off to recharge their batteries. I think I would quit without it.
There are many days I wish I was sitting in some nice air conditioned office where no one cries, pees their pants or throws up on the carpet

Not so far. If I worked in Queens I could at least consider taking the train!

This is my first summer off in 5 years. I even worked on 2 of the school breaks this year. I overloaded on tutoring and any per session work I could get. Even with 2 weeks left, I feel like I haven't relaxed for a second yet!
