Hi everyone, I really need advice, quickly, if possible....

Ok, here's the situation....I sent my resume over the weekend for a position to be a music director this summer. The place I sent it to left me a message yesterday saying that they were very interested in meeting me and that the director of the summer program would be contacting me today. They left no number to contact them at, and the ad said no calls, so there was just a fax number. Now, I don't want to go anywhere because if they call and want to meet with me, the only time I can do it is today since I am going away tomorrow until Saturday. But, I have to go clean out my classroom by today, which is an hour and a half west of where I would have to go and meet about the job. So, do I go clean my classroom without waiting to see if they want to meet with me today? Or do I stay a little while here and see if they call? I am just afraid that they won't be able to wait until next week to meet with me and I will lose the chance to get this job. And it's a perfect job for the summer! ARGH! I'm so confused as to what I should do

Well........AS EXPECTED.......I left to go clean my classroom and they called RIGHT WHEN I GOT THERE And they wanted me to come today, but I told her that I cannot make it until Monday. They sounded pretty desperate, so she was cool with waiting till then. Let's hope I get it now! But like I said, when places are interviewing this late, they usually REALLY need someone, so I'm sure it will end up working out. Thanks again everyone for the advice!

do you have call forwarding? can you forward the calls to your cell and turn off the call forwarding when you get home?

not to play devil's advocate, but no company is 'desperate' -- we always need them more than they need us, so I hope that someone else doesn't sneak in while you're away.
The good thing is that you showed that you wouldn't alter your schedule for a company. That is important. Today's it's 'drop everything and come in for an interview' -- tomorrow it's, 'we have an important client request and we need you to reschedule your vacation'

Well, trust me, I've seen schools and camps that really were desperate. I've even heard them say it. It's not a company, it's a summer camp, a little less official than most jobs. I understand the devil's advocate thing, but I've worked at enough of these places to know how they operate.

I don't mean to sound like I 'know' I'm going to get the job because of course someone may come and take it between now and then, anything is possible. But music specialists are hard to come by, especially ones that meet their qualifications AND who will drive to Mattituck everyday, so it's safe to say I may have this one in the bag And if I don't, just means more beach time this summer
