I'm new here..... I just got engaged two weeks ago and now that it is finally setteling in, I have been surfing the net and found this site!
We haven't booked or even looked at places yet, but we have some ideas or halls in mind.... I can't wait to start the planning!
Thinking of visiting Carlyle, Lands End, Harrison House and Port Jeff Country Club in the next week.... I'm really hoping the prices aren't way up there. We are thinking either the summer of 2005 or the first week of October.

Well, we have been dating for a long time... and I knew it was coming b/c last summer we went looking at rings so he could get an idea of what I liked.
We went on a cruise on Valentine's Day and I really thought he would pop the question then. Turned out he didn't. So then he had me thinking it would be after a sometime family wedding that is in two weeks but he did it two weeks ago.
We went into the city, as we always love to do thinking it was dinner and a play. He ended up reserving the back room at One if by Land, Two if by Sea and popped the question there.
If you have never been there, it is a wonderful and romantic restaurant! I was so surpised... it was truly perfect!

Congratulations! I just booked Port Jeff CC last weekend. If you're thinking of that as one of your places, I'd suggest at least checking it out soon. They are still offering somewhat reduced prices for 'preconstruction' but are opening for parties etc on May 1st. The woman who helped us said prices will go up $30 pp after that for each time. Feel free to send forum mail if you have any questions.

I am sure you will find all the help you may ever need in the whole 'to do' list while planning your very exciting wedding. Congrats on the You must be flashing it around so that all can see. I remember those first few weeks, I wanted everyone to know
Those are all very nice places to be looking at. The Port Jeff Country Club is just under new management, so you will be pleased. They are totally renovating and all. The Lombardi Family now own it, they own the Villa Lombardi in Holbrook.

October is one of the most expensive months to get married. We had originally wanted the first weekend in October, but once we started looking at halls, we found that the price difference was incredible! At the Watermill, it was almost $25 per head....so that's why we picked November!
