Hi Girls! ***UPDATE***

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had such nice fall weather and yesterday was perfect- nice and warm- can't complain! So I changed my Duet team from Sam to Alberto- YAY! I am so excited. Alberto's work is amazing and I am truly excited.

Now is the vent part and I don't know if this is asking for advice or if I just need to let it out. Here goes: For a little background on my family situation here goes. My Sister got married 5 years ago and moved upstate. Since then, she had a baby over a year ago. Her husband works. She works. And they both need to work in order to pay for their extravegant lifestyle. So, at that point- she couldn't afford daycare (which I know is BS- they just choose to have a large house and other toys) So, my Mom decides to go upstate and take care of the baby. Now, her and my Father are married for 30 something years. They are not divorced but may as well be considering it is now a year later and my Mom is still living there.

Now here I am. Engaged and planning a wedding. My Mom seriously could give two sh*ts about the wedding. And it hurts my feelings. I have talked to my Sister multiple times. I have talk to my Mom multiple times. They don't care. My Sister thinks I am jealous. Which is not the case at all. I have all the things I want in the world and I live pretty nicely. I just feel abandoned. There is the difference. My WHOLE family agrees with me. Everyone thinks it's ridiculous that my Mom is living up there totally abandoning my Father. Forget me for a second. My Dad is 68 and has diabetes. I think he needs my Mom right now to enjoy life with. He is not getting any younger. But for now, he has me to keep him company because I still live at home. I am worried about when I get married. He will be alone. The fact that my Sister does not care, boggles my Mom. She says I am selfish. But in reality- she is being selfish. If she makes a few cutbacks, she can either stay at home or put the kid in daycare.

So fast forward to this past Saturday. It's my Neice's 14th birthday. We are all gathered in the kitchen. My Mom was there and talking about her life upstate. She was saying what she does there during the day. Then she mentioned that she cooks dinner. So of course I and said 'OMG- she cooks for you too!!!!!' My Sister got MAD. I mean really mad. She stormed over to me and got in my face crying and said 'I am returning all your gifts and dropping out of your wedding party!' Then she said I was jealous and I said 'for the record- I am not jealous. I just wish my Mom was HERE when I need her. She was there when you need her and now you are just milking it for all it's worth!' So she stormed out crying. Mind you. She is 31 years old and she made a complete a$$ out of herself. I just sat there all cool and collected and said 'Whatever. Don't be in my bridal party. I could give a crap less.' For her to cry so easily means that she either knows I am right or she is just being a baby. Everyone at the party felt bad for me and thought my Sister made an a$$ out of herself. So it's now Monday- my Mom hasn't called. And my Sister and I sent nasty emails since but I am down a RB and a MOH. And quite frankly, I could care less. I really don't want a nasty selfish person in my bridal party. She wants everything for herself and meanwhile I and my other Sister cannot stand her. Part of me feels relieved but the other part wishes that for once my Sis could understand how I feel for a change. But I don't think she ever will. So I guess I can't dwell.

Alrighty, thanks for listening ladies. I think this vent is over....

***UPDATE***
My sister just sent me an email. She basically apologized. I wrote back and said accepted and mentioned that I was never really mad at her- more so at our Mother. So, my Mom and Dad are going to a wedding this Saturday and my Mom is coming home this Friday. I will def be speaking to her about everything and hopefully everything will work out.

Thanks for listening as always. I love my LIW girls!

Re: Hi Girls!

sorry to hear about all that!!! you are right to not let her get to you. you have such amazing things happening for you with getting married that you don't need someone to bring you down. I hope it works out with your mom and dad. it has to be tough. i hope you can enjoy planning your wedding and getting married and not let immature behavior take away from it!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. There is not much I say to make it better, but I agree that your sister obviosly knows that you are right and you are not selfish. She is the one who doesn't mind practically breaking up your parents marriage. I hope things get better for you!

Wow, I am really sorry for you! That sounds so crappy and you shouldn't have to deal with it. Good job not letting your sister get to you. Hopefully she will realize how selfish she is being.

Anyhow feel free to vent anytime!

You are 100% in the right!
I think your sis is being very selfish!

Question (and this might be to personal, so you don't have to answer):
Would you Dad ever consider moving up there to be with your Mom after you're married?
Or are things just over b/t them and this was a good excuse for your Mom to get out?

I'm sorry hun!

I am so sorry about this....sometimes certain things bring out the worst in people. Maybe you can talk to your dad and have your dad talk to your mom?? And obviously she has some sort of guilt on her mind or know you are right for her to bug out like that. Good that you kept it cool....I am sure it will all work out in the end.

I'm sorry that you are going through this! It is definitely a time in your life when you need your mom. I think that your sister sees where you are coming from and it is a mixture of realization and immaturity maybe? I hope you feel better and everything I'm sure will work out!

This is not personal- my Dad hates it up there. He has a business here and does not want to move. My Mom is coming back one day. My parents have an odd relationship. My Mom never worked and my Dad retired young so they have been spending a lot of time together for a while. I guess it was nice for them to be apart for a while but at this degree- it's a little ridiculous. I am not sure what will happen when I get married. I think they are okay but I care about it and my Sister doesn't which irks me.

Already tried. My oldest Sister who is my other MOH who I am pretty close to is talking to my Mom. She feels she can get through to her.

OMG .. I am so sorry about all this. You shouldnt have to go through this while planning a wedding ... does your sister's husband not see a problem with this? Why doesnt your dad ask your mom to come home?

I think not only is your sister selfish but extremely spoiled. The least she can do is cook dinner! I just feel so bad for your dad. I could see if this is a temp situation for a couple of weeks but come on. The reason why she was crying is all guilt b/c she knows she is WRONG

I am SO sorry your sister is being SO selfish.

This is the time when it should be about you!!

She had her time and now she needs to grow up and take responsiblity for her life.

I hope everything works out for you

Re: Hi Girls!

I'm sorry that your sister has let you down so badly ....and your Mum.Try not to let them dampen your wedding plans etc.

Just for the record, my sister is useless to me and I have no relationship with her and I have totally accepted the situation. She's not in my wedding party or plans (not even told her).
You and your good sister and Dad will be just fine.
Honest.

i am so sorry you have to go through this. She is being selfish. But, I am glad you stood up for yourself and you didn't react like her. You are being more mature.

Re: Hi Girls!

Im sorry it stinks when sisters fight. And even though you are mad at her it still hurts. Im so close with my sisters that it really would be so difficult to handle. But you are 100% right here! She is being very selfish. However, your mother is playing a big role in this too. She is enabling the entire thing. She obviously is quite happy there & doesnt mind the fact that her husband is pretty much on his own & sick. I think they are kind of both selfish & both a need to learn a lesson!

Sorry this had to happen in the best time of your life!

Maybe they can make a compromise and your Mom could come home on the weekends?
What about your BIL's parents? Do they help out at all or live in the area?

She comes sometimes and my dad goes up there. Lately it hasn't been much but it will pick up again during the holidays.

BIL's family is pretty much useless.

Re: Hi Girls!

Awww Michelle... you are 100% right here!!! Im glad you were so strong bc I don't know if I could have been!!! I think you are completely right, things are going great for you now, you are moving on with things, starting your own family. I know its hard, but if your sister really isn't going to understand where your coming from with things and support you through all of this, when it is ABSOLUTELY your turn, you are def right!!!

Let me know if you need anything!!! You are doing a great job planning by yourself, the wedding is going to be beautiful. And I really think they will all come around
