Hi - Im new and heard that this site was great for wedding advice and tips. I am starting to look at hall on the island so feel free to suggest anything!

Congratulations!!! john ANthony's is Beautiful. I have been to two wedding there and they were both great. Another wedding I recently went too which was so nice was at the Deservsky (sp) Mansion at NYtech in old westbury, I wish i looked there it is to die for so beautiful, and you can get married right out front.
I also say $200 a plate b/c alot of people I know were telling me I cant get married for much cheaper then that at a nice hall. and I dont want to get married someplace cheesy.
They're VERY wrong.
You have LOTS of choices.

You can definately find a place less than $200 p/p without being 'cheesy'. There was a site where you could put in your budget and it tells you places to look...can anyone find that site and post it for her????

thank you for your help! that place looks very beautiful but I am looking for something more modern. We like russos on the bay but my friend went there and they wanted 200 p/p and so many weddings going on at once. For that money I think I can do better.

so you want a place that does 1 wedding at a time? WHat are your other requirments, that should help you cancel out ALOT of choices.

well if that is the case that I an get married in a nice place for less that would be so great! I was wondering how people afforded weddings! maybe you are all rich or something sorry im very new at this. we also have to find out if my mom and dad and his parents will help us. If they dont then we can probably only afford maybe 100 a plate or less. Is that crazy? I dont want our guests to think we are cheap.

everyone on this website is so nice! I am so happy I joined! well it does not have to be 1 wedding at a time.. two or 3 at the most is ok. But I think some places like russo's and the one in great neck they have 5 or 6

If you are looking for modern - maybe you can try Chateau Briand - the Scotto Brothers own it and they have a good reputation for food, service, etc... I believe they are within your range.

Hello! I was also engaged on 2/14. My FH proposed while we were vacationing in the Pocanos- just before dinner, outside with the mountains in the background! You definatly have your choice of halls on long island for $200.. so i wouldn't worry about that one bit.. I saw this magazine.. i think it was LI Weddings.. they have a chart with a bunch of halls and the price ranges. That was quite helpful Congrats!

There are plenty of places on LI that do less than 3 or 4 weddings at a time for under $100. There are magainzes you can get that list all the catering halls on LI, how many weddings they do at a time and how much an average plate is. That can help you narrow it down.
eta - the link I posted above gives you a list of place in LI and what not, all the basics....happy hunting

Welcome to the site, you will get great advice and ideas from the ladies here
Take a look at this site Wedding Sites and Services They have most of the locations on LI with price ranges, capacity, pics, sample menus and contact info.
Like all the other ladies said with that type of budget you can have your pick of places. Believe us when we tell that you can have a very elegant wedding for less than $200pp.
First talk with FH and decide what type of wedding you want. Do you like the old world opulant look, Chandeliers, romantic, B&B feel, outdoor, etc.... Do you want to have the whole place to yourself? That will eliminate a lot of place off the bat.

Yeah the Desversky Mansion is NOt modern at all...What about, fox hoolow, crest hollow, caryle on the green..for less than 100 there is Captain Bills www.captainbills.com I am not sure of anything for $100. or less

Thank you for the website! I have already seen some I like. can you girls give me some opinions? I like the way the carle on the green looks. I dont think my fiance will like it. He likes the russo on the bay kind of place.
