Hi Everyone! I've pretty much done all of the major planning. We picked place, date, save the dates, wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses, etc... We have some stuff left but most of the big stuff is complete.
I don't need a planner for the actual planning process but was considering hiring one recommended by a friend, for the day of the wedding. She is supposed to be there for all wedding day situations (to remove all possible stress from the bride and groom). Has anyone used one and if so, do you think they are worth the money?
Thank you

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
I think you are thinking of a DOC (day of coordinator)...I heard that they are great because you don't hear about any drama that day, which is nice...some you can pay extra and they will do your final appointments with you...I don't think I am going to get one...that is what FMIL is for!

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
Exactly! I think I confused the two. I don't need a planner but I definitely am interested in having a DOC. I had no intention of getting one- everything is pretty much done but I like the idea of having someone take care of all possible problems (and not tell you about them until after the wedding). And I have some crazy family members that I fear are going to stress me out on that day. I was told she could control them and take care of any other possible issues.
The person suggested to me was Laura at LA Productions. Has anyone heard of her? If so, good or bad? I just don't want to waste money. But I'm scared that my crazy relatives will be stressful and overwhelming! ????

I'm really not sure yet. Does anyone know how much a DOC costs on average?

Depending on your venue they sometimes give a DOC included in your Wedding package.

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
I don't even know what they cost. We talked with one over the phone but have yet to meet with her. I know there are different pricing options based on what you need. Ex: Hiring her for ALL the planning or just for some things or just for that day! Just curious if anyone has used LA Productions and if so, what they thought????

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
I didn't have a DOC but I've heard great things about Laura at LA Productions.
Go to the top of the page and click 'Search'. Then you can just type in LA Productions and select the Bride's Review board. It'll bring up a bunch of threads and you can read what past brides have thought after they've used her!!
see if christine and/or hollie from EAP (a vendor on here) are available for your day check my review i can't say enough great things about them.. they were life savers
they were the best money i spent the entire wedding

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
My DOC is fabulous. She is always availabe. She was featured on Married Away. Her name is Preeti Shah. www.spotlightstyle.com. She is very friendly and down to earth and gets the job done. It is great to know that she will deal with all my family, FH family and vendor drama. Yes it is worth the money.

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
I feel hiring a BP is a pain in the booty. I would hate it if someone else told me how to run my wedding.

Exactly, thats how it is at almost every hall. I heard amazing things about bridal attendants and the great help they are the day of, I dont think hiring someone extra is neccesary.

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
I used a full out planner and can say that without her things would have been CRAZY!!! SHe kept us on time, calmed me down when I was going to freak out and took care of anything that worried me the day of.
WELL worth the money

You can survive without one, BUT truthfully I saw my bridal attendants a few times, they bustled my dress, got me a drink and held my bok Maitre D was great-that I will not argue. But your bridal attendant are not giong to remind you to re apply your lipstick, and do the running around to find people you are looking for. I had bumps the morning of my wedding and if not for her I would have been in tears before I even put my dress on. She lined up the family and BP for the ceremony, carried my dress around from the church thru pictures, fixed my dress for pictures, etc. the things you cant do yourself and may not want to.
Like I said, you can survive without one but all those little stresses that you dont think of someone else deals with that day

I agree! Christine is my DOC and she is a lifesaver! I'm know I will have nothing to worry about on my wedding day! I highly recommend her! she's amazing!
I am using Fran from Dazzling Affairs. She seems really nice and always responds to my email in a timely manner. I think it is worth it. I don't really have anyone in my family to handle things if they go wrong and my church and reception are 45 minutes apart. Plus, like my FH said 'Hon, I think you will be easier to deal with if we have a DOC' LOL...

Re: Hiring a Bridal Planner
I'm super-organized and think I'm on top of things, but we hired a DOC and as soon as we met w/her, I felt less stressed than before. She's putting together a minute-to-minute schedule for the day, made some great suggestions for us, and will finalize all of my vendors for me. So far, I'm happy I decided to hire her. HTH!
