Hitting a Rough Patch - UPDATED!

UPDATE:

I was diagnosed with telogen efluvium (a temporary form of alopecia caused by traumatic events, medication or extreme stress in one's life). I am honestly scared. I have long dark hair which I will be loosing (partially) over the next few months. The doctor has assurred me it will all grow back in time [probably not in the 9 months I have until my wedding]. It is essentially a hair thinning across the scalp and the degree it will hit me is unknown. It could reverse in 3 months or it could take a year. All I wanted was for my hair to be super long and my body in super shape for my wedding so this has really taken me for a big spin. I am trying to just stay postive and pray that my hair loss will not be too bad. I guess I can just get extensions for the wedding. I have never had them but I suppose it could work.

On the upside, FH and I are taking a week long vacation with friends to cancun. Hopefully this will help me. I have cried so many times. I try not to think about it but I am shedding hair everywhere so it is hard to forget. Life just doesn't cut us breaks sometimes :( but girls, I have the best fh in the world - he has been so supportive - buying be hair vitamins, just listening to me repeat things over and over - i know there are so many worse things that could be wrong - I guess this just feels like a big damper on things :(

MY ORIGINAL POST:
Just needed to share. . .

Well, I guess I should have expected it but I am totally overwhelmed.

Between 70 hour work weeks, the wedding planning and trying to be supportive and attend my family's and friend's events - I feel so numb.

I posted recently I was worried b/c my hair was shedding very badly. Well, I have also lost 10 pounds in just a few weeks (3). I stepped on the scale this weekend after being told I looked like I was loosing wieght. I have been eating worse than ever. The doctor is running my blood tests, etc. He thinks there is some possibility that this is a thyroid issue but, more likely, he thinks I am having a physical reaction to stress.

We have had a few planning hickups, my job has gotten very demanding, the balance has been rough - it probably is the stress - i just need to find a way to stop internalizing it.

Thanks for listening girls. Sometimes it just feels great to get stuff out!

Do not worry all will be well. Perhaps you may need to take afew days/week vacation from work to give you a little 'stress relief'. Give you some time to unwind, relax a bit.

Oh my goodness...sounds like stress to me! You need to take care of yourself darling. Try to take some time to do things fo ryou. I know that sounds impossible and if you could, you probably wouldn't be in this mess. Have you tried doing yoga or anything? When I am stressed I try to wake up a little early or do it right before bed. As for family events, your friends and family will understand if you are unable to attend things right now. They are here to support you too. Get your health taken care of first darling!

Oh my gosh! Take care of yourself! You can't lose any weight... you're already so tiny!

The planning stress will pass in due time. I think everyone has gone through it on this site.

Talk to your boss, see if you can cut back on the hours. A 70 hour work week is insane, sure we like the OT, but seriously, cut back on the extra hours!

Your health is MOST important right now. If it means taking a break from planning, or working less hours, then do it!!

is there anyway possible you can take a few days and go away with FH, get work, the wedding and just everything off your mind for a little bit? You need to sit somewhere, relax and have some downtime.

Re: Hitting a Rough Patch!

Just hang in there - last summer I had the 15+ hour days too, but remember it all eventually ends (the deal has to close sometime right?!?!?!). I tried to order in good food while at my desk (try turkey burgers, no bun, veggies, sweet potatoes, omlets, sushi, salads, etc.) to keep up my energy, and as hard as it was, I tried to go to the gym at night, even if it was at 10:30 (NYSC has a few 24 hour gyms). It is ok to ignore the wedding planning for a few weeks while you get work stuff back on track. I am sure your wedding will still be great even if you ignore a few things for a month. Or put FH to work! FH wrote almost all of the e-party thank you cards while I was working late this week. My job was to put stamps on them and write the last 5.

Take it easy girl. Just relax and take it day by day. I know work can be sooo freaking stressful. But remm. it's work. It'll be there tomm and you def. should'nt be loosing sleep over it.

Just take some time to enjoy and get your mind back on track. You have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of other things.

Oh my goodness. First and foremost I hope you are ok. My friend actually just went through a similar problem and luckily is on the mend. Let us know if we can help. I'm sure some of us (i.e. ME) would be happy to help you in any way we can. Perhaps I can research some stuff for you this way you can subtract a few steps. Anything I can do to lessen the burden for you just let me know! Plus, it'll help keep my mind off my dumb feet - killing two birds with one stone

keep your head up and stay in there. i know how you feel-my body takes all my stress and i lose hair, not weight, but my body becomes so sore-as if i worked out for 48hrs straight. just take everything one day at a time. you will get through your busy season, and a summer filled with parties and bbqs. we all have so much excitedment to look forward too, try not to let this get the best of you. and dont put yourself last, its one of the worst things you can do!

Oh my darlin!!! sounds like you need some time off from everything!!! deep breaths I'm sure all will be fine - the body has a tough time with stress and sweetie you got a ton off it. i hope you do consider some time off and some R&R!!! i'll keep you in my prayers!!!

Re: Hitting a Rough Patch!

oh sweetie, you need to relax!!! My sis and I react the same way to stress, i drop so much weight when Im stressed and I get sick ... maybe you and your FH can get away for a like a 3 day weekend? Or you should pick a day - like Sat to make it your day and make a pact to not talk about or do anything wedding related ... that might help .. other than that ..delegate some stuff to your BP!
