HM related: Has anyone been to Egypt?
FH and I were looking at going to Egypt for our HM. They have a bunch of gorgeous resorts there that look great. Plus we'd like to get to see the pyramids. If you've been, have you ever gone to the resort/beachy areas? Where did you stay?
Its hard getting info online, anything anyone can offer up would be great!

Honestly, I would go through a TA. I would not risk booking and not know where I am going.

yes, I've been there but I don't even know where I stayed - one of the resort hotels. I don't know if I would go to Egypt on my Honeymoon....but if that is what you are into definitely go through a TA

Are you sure its safe to travel there now? If so, I would go through a TA. Its actually somewhere I have always dreamed going!

Yes, Egypt is safe to travel to. I would recm'd booking through a TA as well - just b/c they can situate you in the best areas in regards to your interests.I went there for three weeks and had an amazing time. We stayed at Grand Hyatt in Cairo. It was LUXURY beyond all that I've personally ever experienced.
The staff were friendly, and welcomed all. I speak Arabic fluently, but the Egyptian dilect is very different, and I felt very confident, and no one had any problems helping me correct the Arabic and my Non-Arabic speaking friends even learned a few things.
The food is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Egypt is a trip you will never forget. I went with my best friend who is first generation American born Egyptian. We stayed with her family for half the trip and then we went to the Oberoi in Cairo. I think it was Meana House or something like that. I don't really remember the name - but it was beautiful!!! The people in that country are amazing - such beautiful peaceful people. They seem to love to share their culture with 'outsiders.'Anyway, I can speak travelers Arabic - I can't hold a conversation, but I can ask for directions or hail a taxi or order food or shop on my own. My friend did most of the talking, so I was ok, but I would recommend taking a phrase book with you. I doubt you'll be travelling outside of the cities much though.
If you are going with a male companion - on a honeymoon obviously you will be
) then I would recommend it. We were with her two male cousins and felt safe. Try and stay away from dairy - unless you know for certain that it was pasteurized - and try to only drink bottled water or carbonated water - no ice in drinks!

Wow! Great advice! Thanks girls! They say that because Egypt depends on tourism so much for their economy they are one of the most vigilant countries in the world when it comes to safety. hopefully thats true.
So many of the seaside resorts there are really really gorgeous. Tripadvisor has been somewhat useful but I would love to get my paws on someone that has been to one of them :)
