from my boss. she and her husband can't attend. fine. I kinda had a feeling she wouldn't come. But she didn't write anything at all on the card. you know, like 'sorry I can't make it because of blah blah blah'.

just Mr & Mrs X
will not attend

is this weird? I think it is

most of our No's didnt say anything.. they just checked off 'cannot attend'. i dont think most people think they have to give a reason- and before this site, i probably wouldnt have thought it either so i dont really think its weird

I always thought people who are fairly close to you would at least say why or how sorry they are to miss it.

she also never acknowledged receiving the invite in the first place. I sent them out a month ago.

oh well.

I think inviting the boss can be a weird situation anyway. I can understand just checking off 'will not attend' she probably didn't want it to sound like she was making up an excuse why she couldn't come. just simply that she wasn't. ya know?

Mine didn't either... She did tell me she couldn't make it though and she was sorry. Your boss sounds uncomfortable about being invited. People are weird.

I totally think when people who we know well don't write anything with their 'no's' its bizarre. I would never do that! I sincerely apreciate the little notes people write on the rsvp's!!!!

I totally agree with you!

I wouldn't get affended...most people don't write anything they just check off if whether or not they are coming.

thanks for your feedback ladies. I guess I was feeling a little paranoid when she didn't write a message.

I realized that my boss and I are not 'buddies'. we hung out outside of the office once, at someone else's house party. it is proper etiquette to invite your boss, and they all know that. that doesn't mean they have to come.

Sometimes, you're better off not hearing the lame excuse. My stepfather's brother and wife regretted due to a PTA meeting! I would be embarassed to write that.

Not one of my 'no's' wrote anything. I just figured that no means no.
