HMMM.... kind of surprised about something

Original post by bluegreen08

If you are inviting a couple who is engaged but not married, and are using inner envelopes, do you just put one person on the outer envelope and then both names on the inner? or both on the outer and less formal names on the inner?

assume they live together at the address the invite is being sent to.

we didnt have an inner envelope so we didnt deal with this stuff, but i'm curious how this works

Edit: I googled and one website says this (which is what i expected):

Unmarried couples who live together - alphabetical by last name

Outer:
Miss (or Ms.) Rose Abbott
Mr. Timothy Cochran

Inner:
Miss (or Ms.) Abbott
Mr. Cochran

but i'm curious to hear what you all say because of an invite we just received that had me going

All of my engaged friends are currently living together so the outer I did put both of their names (I didnt do it alphabetically though, I did the name of my friend on top). On the inner envelopes I put, 'Jen & Shane' or whatever. HTH!

I did this too! i did first names on the inner..I thought it made it a bit more personal!

i think it does make it more personal, although last names is a little more formal on inner envelope. i was just surprised they only put his name on the outer, considering they are friends of both of us, and we live together!

Yes, I definitely would do it the way you said, too! I've been making it a point to try and find out if I don't already know.

Yeah I would've been a little put off by this also! I made it a POINT to find out significant other's last names if I didn't know them so that I could put both names on the outer envelopes! Sorry, hun!

yep! i feel the same way! i did the same..im suprised they didn't do this for you...i would have been alittle annoyed,..sorry

I received an invite to a wedding for Ms. Laura ______ on the outside and Ms. ___________ and Guest on the inside. DH and i got married a month before them and wasn't included on the invite.

There are some weird etiquette rules to follow!!
