HM...name change question

HM...name change question

Since most of us are going to be leaving for our HM within a few days of our wedding, has anyone thought about their name change thing?
It dawned on me the other day...everythings gonna be booked using our maiden names, and for those of us changing our names...doesnt it take a few days/weeks to get everything changed & straightened out?

So legally, while traveling...do we go by our maiden or married name???

it is confusing at first but you use your maiden name bc when you book everything your last name hasnt changed. Plus you dont receive your actual marriage certificate until about a month after the wedding.

some get it quicker than a month though but if you leave on your hm right after the wedding then yeah technically you still are but since they know youre on your HM they'll call you Mrs._____ so dont worry but thats funny.

Use your Maiden name. I talked to my travel agent yesterday about that and she advised me to use my Maiden name.

Ok so I am confused. I know you can get your Marriage license up to 60 days before your wedding. So what do they send you a month after??

the marriage license is only valid for 60 days like you said, its kind of a paper allowing you to get married. After you are married youwill receive your marriage certificate

Oh! Thanks so much for clearing that up. So how do they know that you got married. Do you or your officiant submit something after the marriage?? How does that work?

change your name when you get back from your honeymoon. you might have trouble with tickets and passports if you change it right after the wedding.

you bring your marriage certificate to the DMV and whatever else you change. You submit the work when you get certificate.

Oh ok actually what I was asking is how does the Clerk from the Town office know you got married. Cuz once you sign the Marriage license that does not go into effect till after your wedding. So do either you or your officiant need to submit something to the Town Clerk after the wedding in order to get your Marriage Certificate??

Def. book the HM under your maiden name.
Once you have everything back (meaning your marriage certificate) THEN change your passport and license etc.

oh sorry, well you are going to sign the papers along with the officiant the day of the wedding. They will send it in and you just wait to receive it. Some i heard have gotten it a month later, i think somebody not long ago got it after 2-3 weeks

I have heard brides making ticket reservations in their new name and not having id to match thus causing problems when boarding. You will have to wait especially to get a new passport.

Traveling for HM you are still your maiden name, dont' forget you have to change your license, passport and all that when you get back.
