Holidays

Holidays

Anyone feeling the tug of war for the holidays? Both of our families are hosting Xmas Eve & Xmas day. We are also doing secret santa. FH family stated the exchange was taking place Xmas Eve and my family said we can do ours Xmas Day. Well FMIL calls today and expects us both days and the exchange is on Xmas day. I thought this was going to be the easy year SIGH I feel like that is now time taken away from my family now. Should we hit both houses now? I'm so annoyed right.......

Sorry for the vent!

Re: Holidays

If the two families are close enough that the drive isn't terrible, I would do both. My FH and I are going to his parents tonight (bc they do a Christmas Eve dinner & my parents go to a party and aren't ever home on this night), then to my parents tomorrow morning to open presents, his parents to open presents, and back to my parents for dinner. It's a lot of driving but I'll do it, probably just for this year, then we'll have to find a better plan

Vent Away!!! I would be too.
I'm Jewish but we do Christmas because FH isn't. His parents are divorced so we are still split between families and it's frustrating till everyone makes there plans. Your FMIL needs to understand that you have family too and need to split the Holiday. Have your FH explain this to her.
JMO to keep the peace I do the complaining about my family to them and he does his. This way you don't look like a b....y daughter-in-law LOL
Good Luck
and Merry Christmas!!!
