Homemade Baby Food

Those of your who make your own baby food, what do you store it in? I am going to make my first batch of carrots soon and I know it says to use an ice cube tray covered with foil, but I can see this getting messy or falling over in freezer, or the cover coming off.

I saw these in the One Step Ahead Catalog and thought they were neat, a little expensive since I think I can get ice cube trays at the dollar store. But I like the covers.

Baby Cubes

Just wondering how the IC trays work for you.

Re: Homemade Baby Food

Kate! How are you?

Anyways, I use the ice cube trays and just makes sure they freeze flat...to avoid spilling. Then I just pop them out like an ice cube and put them in a ziploc (labeled) and pull one out as needed.

HTH!

Re: Homemade Baby Food

I use the gladware mini rounds. It takes up a bit more room but it works out good. Plus it's already in a small bowl so it travels well.

Re: Homemade Baby Food

I use plain old ice cube trays and then once frozen I put them in labeled ziplock freezer bags.

Re: Homemade Baby Food

I have a question. Maybe you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I make all my baby's food. It comes out fine except when I make greens, like peas or string beans. For some reason they don't processes well. They seem to come out 'grity'. Has this happened to anyone? I can't get it right for some reason & wind up buying a jar.

Re: Homemade Baby Food

I tend to buy peas for Molly as well. She hates the homemade ones due to their texture as well. I just don't think that they process as well because we cannot get the skins of them like the process plants do at Gerber.
