not going to state mine so i get your truthful thoughts.... AND im not going into major detail....
If someone moves into a house... their first house, reguardless of when.... and decides to have a house warming party (real food and drinks served) is it tacky to have a registry
AND if its not tacky... is it rude to put the place you registered on a invite.
lets just say i dont share the opinions as those around me and im curious to get your take
Edited.... Thanks girls. I WIN!!! hahah we got an invite to a party and it had their registry and I dont want to go now.... just put me off ya know? thanks for the opinion!
edited again.... i wish it were about me... i still dont have a house

I think its tacky. Its common courtesy to bring a gift to a housewarming party...but a registry is basically telling people to.

I don't think that's tacky at all. I wish I registered when I had my housewarming party. I just didn't think of it at the time. Then I ended up with weird wine glasses and random things that went straight into the attic.
I just went to a housewarming and she registered. Onlything I didn't like was that her registry said 'wedding' and not 'housewarming'. I say do it, if anyone gets upset, eff them.. they don't have to bring anything lol

Re: honest opininion
It's tacky.
I was always told it was tacky to put the registry info on the bridal shower invite (it was on mine, too).
My thoughts are this, if you're able to afford to buy a house you should be able to buy the new things you want/need. If you can't, save some more money.
I will be inviting my friends for a housewarming, but it'll be a 'no gifts' kind of thing... and more because I want to host a party for my friends.

I think it's very tacky. I always bring something and most people would do that for a hosuewarming party, but I think having a registry for it is inappropriate.

me personally, i would never do it
people receiving the invite should have enough decency to bring a house warming gift.
i never go to someones house empty handed.. even if its to watch tv. thats how i was raised.
and going to someones home for the 1st time? u better believe im bringing a big gift.
but i would neverrr put anything like that on an invite.
thats like me deciding to have a bday party and including an amazon . c om wish list on an evite...
BIG ERFFFFF lol

I personally would never do it and I'd probably think it was strange if I recieved an invitation like that. That being said, I'd always bring a gift anyway.

Re: honest opininion
when we bought our house we mad a wish list/registry butttttttttttt thats because everyone get asking/telling us to !!! they kept saying that they didnt want to buy a gc and they wanted to make sure we got what we wanted.
all we wanted to do was a have a party at our house to celebrate. we werent looking for any gifts !!!! we didnt even send out invitations. if we did no way would i put the registry info in it. that to me is super tacky. sorry

So question...did your friend have a shower? Is it still tacky if the couple didnt have a shower to get the items they would need for a house and instead registered for their housewarming party?
I mean if the items on their registry are redic and your friend had a shower already yeah thats weird to an extent. But if its little things...I would register to, or tell you we are are registered with the federal reserve if your gonna come over lol....bc there is nothing I hate more then when people buy me gifts and its stuff I dont need nor use. That ish just ends up taking up space in my storage closet lol
