honesty call.... does anyone really use wedding favors after the wedding?
IMO no. i have thrown away too many favors over the years and personally, i don't plan on giving them at my wedding (FH and i are making a donation to charity). i'm just wondering if i am alone here - so many brides spend so much time on favors and i feel bad not saying anything b/c i know if i were a guest, it would end up in the trash one day.
this is totally not meant to offend anyone - i just needed to get this off my chest.

Nope..that's why we are going mainly edible, or looking for something that is at least somewhat useful!

honestly, I never do, but I think that's mainly because I don't have my own house. I do however, have everything saved for when I'm out and married!

i agree with you! that's why we are giving chocolates. it's somethig that won't take up space and isn't a waste of money. IMO.... it's your day, you do what you want! noone can speak bad of you because of this!

I totally agree with you, but I also want to add that I feel that if you give a favor and it has your name and wedding date sketched all over it, it's even worse.. it's kind of unfair you know?

i have too many 'one candle holders' (as in it should be a pair but we got one!) and random candy dishes....we are doing christmas ornaments so everyone can put them on their tree and think of us (christmas is a huge hting in my fmaily too so it fits nicely!) - for our jewish firend, they can buy like an ornament holder if they want!
(our wedding is before thanksgiving so christmas is close !)

we gave out CD's and they were a huge hit!! Everyone that I talk to that went to our wedding said that they play it over and over again!
I guess it really depends on the favor. Years ago people used to give away ashtrays. If I got an ashtray now, it would get thrown out.

I actually got one of my favorite picture frames as a favor - they were beautiful but who knows what they paid for it!

I got a CD a few years ago, when it was a unique idea (before CD burners were everywhere).
Its cute - it was an appropo gift from the couple (he was a DJ), but I've never played it. The songs were significant to the couple - they don't mean anything to me.

FI's aunt went to a wedding where the favor was a mini wine bottle. She saved it.
When the woman became pregnant his aunt went over to the house and brought over the mini bottle of wine to pop open and celebrate.
I got a mini wine bottle as a favor 2 years ago and I opened it and the wine was horrible. It was very dry and extremely bitter.
I did receive 2 great favors that I use all the time. I received bar glasses at one wedding, but the glasses were engraved with a dragon and celtic knot. They are awesome.
I also received a unique looking candle holders. Its hard to describe it, but so pretty.
All the other weddings I have no idea what the favors were or where I even have them
