IMO no. i have thrown away too many favors over the years and personally, i don't plan on giving them at my wedding (FH and i are making a donation to charity). i'm just wondering if i am alone here - so many brides spend so much time on favors and i feel bad not saying anything b/c i know if i were a guest, it would end up in the trash one day.
this is totally not meant to offend anyone - i just needed to get this off my chest.

I agree also. My mom really wants me to do krispy kremes. They come in pairs and they are not that $$$

I absolutely agree - I always throw away favors esp if the coule's name and date are all over it - I mean WHAT am I going to do with that? I think its a waste of $$ unless its something edible (at my gf's wedding last year they gave away mini-boxes of Godiva chocolate in a heart-shaed box and literally everyone had eaten them before the wedding was over - YUM!). JMO.

We never have any use for wedding favors after a wedding. I think something edible is the best way to go.

I agree with the edibles. Last few weddings I have been to didn't have favors. We are doing the Krispy Kremes also, some muchines for the ride home.

I called Krispy Kreme in East Meadow and the manager said they need only 1 day in advance but I can't remember if he said $2 or $3 for 2.

I always throw them out, but feel guilty for it.
We're doing candles. They're shaped like a Knight and a Maiden (medieval wedding). So they can just burn them and be done with it.

I went with drinkable too. I like edible/drinkable favors. I have drank almost every bottle of champagne/wine and ate the godiva chocolaye favors I have rec'd but as far as far as nick nacky stuff - I haven't done much with it. I don't usually throw it away because I feel bad - I usually try to use it but often it doesn't match decor or not my style.
I have rec'd tons of candle favors which I do have scattered everywhere in my apartment but I rarely use them and eventually get thrown away.

I just ordered our favors - pilsner glasses from Crate & Barrel. Each person would get one and we thought they would be useful. Gosh, I hope they won't chuck it when they get home.

That is why I wanted something good for the enviroment...plantable seed ornaments. They can either be used as x-mas ornaments or planted and will grow a tree. I think personalized ribbon tied around some little trinket is a waste. I say either let your guests be able to eat it, drink it or plant it. Other than that...to the trash they go!

usable wedding favors im thinking of doing: ornament , photo frame 3x5 or 4x6, icecreamscoop with chocolate inside **one italian wedding I got a pizza cutter(boxed and wrapped)

I agree. We are seriously considering a donation to a charity. I really like the plantable idea. I just found an ad for seeds and greenworld project they are mini trees. I like the godiva chocolate idea to go with the scroll that says we made a donation. Or the seeds with the scroll.

I've only kept 1 favor from all the weddings I went to from a good friend, it was a small pic frame & I put the pic from her TY card in there. But once the laquer on the frame started to peel (& oh yeah they divorced!) I threw that out too. I'm not into nick nacks anyway.
We chose to do CDs & bookmarks (I'm a writer so makes sense) & we chose these hoping that peeps would use them at least 1x.

Nope, they just collect dust and then wind up in the trash. That's why I'm doing Hershey's kisses and a donation.

honestly, if I hadn't gone nuts and bought my favors over a year ago, I would have done the donation/food thing. However, my favors are part of my breakaway centerpiece (blown glass vases), so I guess they are adding to people's nicnac garbage collection. I love them and they really add to the theme (and they were inexpensive), so I'm not going to worry about it!
I have kept some favors. My good friend did the picture frame thing and her wedding picture is on display in my living room. My aunt did these gorgeous Mikasa votive holders and I use those too! Nothing's had people's names on it, so that's good!

I've kept a few favors but mostly out of guilt. The only favors I've ever really liked are CDs so I'm doing that. I like candy & chocolate too but not the almonds-can't stand those things

Sandy I completely agree with you. We wanted so badly to get favors that people would use again or that they would find so pretty.
My first choice was a donation to MS, but FH didn't want to do that.
We decided on these hand-painted vases that a lot people seemed to like!
