Honeymoon advice-Rome or Florence? *UPDATED*

OK so we are deep in the throes of honeymoon planning-
We are definitely doing 3 nights in Paris before embarking to Italy..

We decided on Florence!! 4 nights in Florence will be relaxing and romantic, thank you for all your insight. We may sneak in a day trip to Rome, but we'll see.

Oh Man. That's a tough choice.

Alot of people don't like Rome but I LOVED it. I thought it was SO romantic at night- the trevi fountain, Spanish steps, the cafes, strolling the streets, the Coloseo.

You know what....Rome, hands down. It has a bit of edge to it but that works for me.

Firenze aka Florece was beautiful also but I feel that if you only have a few days, Rome is the way to go.

I would go to Rome.. more to see than florence and history wise its excellent!

edt: to add that Im Italian so I will go all over Italy and love it lol but Florence is like a suburb compared to Rome which is the city.. now dont think city like NY becuase its not even close, so you wont be overwhelmed there or anything... both are gorgeous but Rome will have more options for you to do and see.. you may get stuck in Florence.

FLORENCE!

i lived there for three months and it is my favorite city! it is smaller and moe romantic than Rome - it's gorgeous and the food is delish and the atmosphere is incredbile. plus, you can take day trips to Siena and San Gimignano

DEF go to Florence!

I've never been to Italy, hopefully one day, but from what I see from travel shows, I have a stronger desire to see Florence. Maybe because it's not as hectic...I don't think you can go wrong with either though!

i've been to both...and i havta say i loved rome and really only liked florence. but it depends on what u & ur FH are looking for. rome is more city like, touristy...but florence is a city, but country like..maybe more appropriate if you're looking to just relax...

Such a tough decision! I feel like we'll be doing the whole city hustle and bustle in Paris that I may want to be relaxing and drinking wine in the middle of the tuscan mountains.
But then there's SO MUCH to see in Rome.

ETA: FH and I both speak pretty decent Italian-his parents moved here from Italy years ago and I took it as a language in high school. so in terms of getting around, we'll be fine in either city.

ITA. Good way to describe Florence.

All I can say is tough choice! I loved both cities. I think I may have loved Rome slightly better because for some reason I couldn't get enough of the coliseum and the vatican. The bapistry and the duomo and the ufizi didn't have the same pull on me.

Either one you pick is amazing!!!

I've been to both and I enjoyed Rome way more than Florence! Is there anyway you can go to both?

I've been to both and they're both amazing. Rome may be better for a honeymoon though. There's sooo much to see and there's so many things to do at night. Florence is more of the churches and art. It depends on what type of trip your looking for. Personally, I feel like there's more to do in Rome.

I would vote Florence over Rome. I mean, you should see Rome, but I LOVED Florence. It's got more of the 'small town' feeling, whereas Rome is more spread out/urban. I'd do Florence for a HM destination. You'll love it!

Been to both and I liked Florence way more.. but Rome is definitely more touristy while Florence is more laid back.

If you love history- Rome.
If you love art- Florence.

I like Rome a lot better.

I am going to both places.

My Mom has been to the two and her favorite was Florence.

I'm partial to Florence because I lived there for a summer- its romantic and has tons to see and do but also lots of places to relax and drink delicious tuscan wine and eat yummy food!

How much time do you have? Why not both? The train system in Italy is easy to use and multiple trains run between Florence and Rome each day. Just remember to validate your ticket before getting on. :)
