Honeymoon Cruise

Honeymoon Cruise

We are thinking of taking a cruise around Hawaii on NCL Pride of America. Does anyone have any feedback on the ship? Is the ship itself nice? How is the food? Entertainment? I've been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean and loved them both. Thanks!!!

Re: Honeymoon Cruise

We went on NCL for the first time on my HM... Before that we went on carnival twice and royal once... Hnads down, we liked NCL the best! Eating whenever you felt like going to dinner was GREAT... No rushing after ports to shower and get dressed to eat... Not having to bring dressy clothes with 10 pairs of heels! It cut down soooo much on my packing!

We were on the Sky so I cant comment on the ship itself... But if you have any questions, I rec reading the cruisecritic.com msgboards... Tons of info on there!

Re: Honeymoon Cruise

I actually went on the Pride of America in January 2006.

Several things: Ship was great. Beautiful. Food was great - NCL has flexibility for dining and you don't have to sit at a table w/ 8 random strangers.

That itinerary is very demanding - I think you're in a different port every single day (except for one sea day) so if you are the type of people who think you might want to sleep past 8am, it's probably not the cruise for you. Not sure if you've cruised before, but here is my issue with the Pride of America. They hire only Americans to work on the ship - e.g. wait staff, cabin stewards, etc. Please forgive me in advance for saying this (and maybe for being a bit unpatriotic) but compared to other cruises where the vast majority of the staff was not American, the American waitstaff was, let's say, lazy. I've been on many cruises and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with my fellow Americans. Most of them are like 22 years old, right out of college, don't know what they want to do with their lives, so they go and live on a cruise ship for 10 months as a waiter. I actually won a bonus upgrade so we stayed in a Penthouse Suite (which you normally pay like $10K pp, but we paid $1500 pp) so needless to say the room was AMAZING. We had a balcony that was larger than the inside cabins!

Don't get me wrong - it was an excellent trip - but compared to other cruises I've done on NCL, it was just lacking something. FM me for more info - I could probably e-mail you pictures and stuff from the ship too. HTH!

Re: Honeymoon Cruise

We're doing this cruise for our honeymoon! We've cruised before and we really chose it because there were no other options for hawaii cruises during the summer. We wanted to see lots of islands without having to pack and unpack... I'm not expecting much for the cruise experience but I'm SOOO excited to go to Hawaii!
