honeymoon destinations....

Now that many of the vendor choices are finished it is time to decide on the honeymoon. Hawaii is out, b/c we only plan to take a week. I am a complete beach bum.... anywhere tropical would make me happy, but my FI is not one to sit on a beach all day. Any suggestions/ thoughts??? Thanks

We're headed to Costa Rica! It's got volcanoes, rainforests, and beautiful beaches, and is a lot closer than Hawaii.

Costa rica and Belize are great for the tropical setting. What about California? San Diego has some great beaches and great culture.

honeymoon destinations....

does your fiance like sports and participating in a lot of activities? if your answer is yes then how about a club med? at one of these destinations you can do as much as you want or you can be as big of a beach bumb as you want too. you could watch him participate in a sports competition while you are lying on the beach. there are many club med destinations world wide. just go to www.clubmed.com and you'll see the many places you can go. i'd suggest an adult only village. it's the perfect get-away for only 1 week. it's all inclusive too so you'll save tons of $$$. good luck!

Sandals!!!!!

We`re going to Sandals Resort at Dunns River Falls in Jamaica for 10 days. They have packages starting from 4 days and up, and are very reasonably priced. Sandals is an all-inclusive resort too, so you can scuba dive, snorkel, parasail, jet ski, everything, included in the price! And all of their hotels are beachfront on beautiful blue water. I would suggest any Sandals resort in Jamaica because there are 5 or 6 of them and you can do the activities and eat at the restaurants at all of them. I think 1-800-SANDALS will give you a better price than a travel agent will.

frissmint....question about Costa Rica

I think we're heading to Costa Rica too - did you book it yet? Who did you book through and what's your package? Where are you staying? We're looking to split our time between the rain forest/volcano and the beach. Thanks! sorry for all the questions...

Lisa T

Lisa, We haven't booked our honeymoon to Costa Rica yet, but we're definitely headed there. Everything I've heard has been great. We also want to go to the rainforest (Monteverde), the Arenal Volcano, and then head to the beach (Tamirindo I think). We're going to meet with a travel agent soon. I think we'll stay at the Tabacon Spa one night in Arenal. For the beach hotel, we're debating on whether to do an all-inclusive or not. The Melia Playa Conchal is not inclusive, but I've heard great things about it. The all-inclusive we're thinking about is Barcelo Playa Langosta. I think it'll come down to a money decision. I also think Punta Islita looks wonderful, but a little too secluded for us (and not near the best surfing for my fiance). Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll post again once we bok something.

How about a 1 week Caribbean cruise?

We are thinking about a 1 week Caribbean Cruise to St. Martin and St Thomas (either Disney Cruises or Princess Cruises). There are tons of great 1 week cruises out there!

Hey frissmint and Lisa T, I'm looking into Costa Rica for our honeymoon too, but I was wondering if it is safe there? and how about the language barrier?

Question about Costa Rica-reply

its very safe there - I've only heard good things both from people who have visited and friends that grew up there. The people are very friendly and many speak english (but not all).
