Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

My travel agent says it depends on what islands in Hawaii that you go to that will impress you or depress you... like she strongly suggested Maui to me and FH b/c that is the spot to be. My other options are:

Turks and Cancos (Nikki Beach looks like a HOT hotel to stay in!)
Ibiza( I know, a lot of people say its not HM enough, but for FH and I its perfect. Romance and craziness what more can I ask for!)
Aruba-there is crazy exciting resort downthere with a casino and stuff that we saw that looks AWESOME!
St.Lucia

I am meeting with her soon, I will let you all know the hot spots for sure!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

ughhhh im so annoying and picky, freakin FH!!!!! has to ruin everything

australia - is a maybe for me, but i dont think fh could last that long on a plane
costa rica - fsil had a bad experience there and now im scared to go
brazil - ive heard such horror stories and again im scared to go

cruise is a good option i kinda wanted to stay in a hotel but we'll see, hawaii just worked out for us, i want an awesome beach and a great nightlife to wear heels and cute dresses to (slap me now lol), and somewhere we might not get the chance to go again, ill prob have to give up something or theother for fh's sake

i think you should go to hawaii! you want to go!!!! and you will probably regret it if you dont go there

so instead of looking at other places, focus your research on all the amazing things to do in hawaii and then show mike and be like...here...look...its amazing!!

and find out why the other couple didnt like it? maybe they went to crappy spots?

i know a few ppl that HM'd there and they all rave about it.

DO IT!!!!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

I don't know much about Hawaii but I've been to Turks & Caicos (in 2006 so this may have changed) but there is not much nightlife. It was more of a relaxing setting than anything.

I was in St. Maarten in 2007 for a vacation though and it had a great nightlife! We went to the bar that is right where on the beach where the planes come in--pretty amazing (i can look up the name but its pretty famous there). Another club we went to was similar and had a south beach vibe--very fun. I'd recommend looking into St. Maarten if you are interested!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

ahhhhs o right now you have me scared.... we are in the same boat! We were originally going to do St Lucia, we figured 2 weeks in one little place we would get bored. So we looked into a cruise to the greek islands, and hen capri italy. everything was perfect! 4 nights in Capri, and a 7 day cruise to the greek islands. We figured this is great, we dont have to pack up every 2 days and switch islands, we can hop on and off the boat at our leisure. Then i find out, that the cruise that left during our time frame, got charted and is now not going out. So now we are looking into Hawaii too, with the same mind set, we neeeeed some night life! After 2-3 days of nothing we will be misrable. So we were told hawaii. Now im getitng a little nervous, lol. ahhhhhhhh

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

I totally agree with you about the Caribbean. We have been to a few Cruises to islands and I feel like I want to do something that we will never be able to do otherwise. We are looking into Hawaii as well...but we def. need nightlife!!! So there is no night life in Fiji/Tahiti? Thats a bummer cause that was on our list!!

Let me know how it goes, and if you can keep me updated on any info you get about nightlife places please do!!!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

Turks and Caicos is beautiful!!! I think they have one of the nicest beaches I've ever seen. But there is not much night life... I stayed at Club Med and was single and had a great time but I would not recommend Club Med for a Honeymoon. There are some really nice resorts but again not much night life. I would think you would have a lot more to do in Hawaii. I heard Figi is amazing too and I believe they have some kind of night life.

I know someone who just got back from Hawaii (it's her first day back at work today) and she was not impressed - HOWEVER, she thinks it may have a lot to do with the hurricane that hit the islands while she was there. Also she was in Oahu (sp?) and said it was very crowded and she doesn't like crowds.

FH's cousin is there on her HM right now... she emailed us last week saying she hopes it stops raining. I will find out details on how she liked it when she gets back.

HTH!

Oahu is very 'tourist-y' From what I hear its basically walking around a large city just with nicer scenery. We are going there for two nights just to see the popular sights.

Hey Joanna, what about considering Ibiza???

It is beautiful and has an amazing night life. FH and I want to go there. Its a toss up bt. Ibiza and Hawaii actually.

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma

You should really sit down with a travel agent and discuss Hawaii. It really has a lot to offer. FH went only to Maui...for 7 days...and felt like we needed more time just to relax!

The beaches are beautiful, the food was amazing and there are so many things to do. Also, they have great snorkel tours to other islands.

FH and I considered Tahiti and Fiji...but thought we would get bored because there is zero nightlife. Hawaii was a good mixture of day and night activities.

FH should reconsider. Maui itself is amazing...and you still have the other islands if you want to switch it up a bit
