Honeymoon help! We can't decide, St. Lucia or Maui.

Which would you pick? We wanted to find somewhere that we can lounge and relax and do nothing, but also that has activities and things to do.

St. Lucia Pros:
- 5 hr flight (compared to 13 hrs to Maui)
- 2 nights in a very unique, cool hotel (Ladera)
- 7 nights at Sandals, which seems like summer camp for adults. Everything is at your fingertips
- All-inclusive, so once we book, no worries about overspending

Cons:
- Worried we'll get sick of Sandals and feel confined
- Beaches don't look nearly as nice as those in Maui

Maui Pros:
- It's MAUI! It looks amazingly beautiful and lush. Beaches look better
- 2 nights at an amazing hotel! (the 7 at an average hotel or a condo)
- Seems like we'd be better able to explore the island and do whatever we want, whenever we want

Cons:
- 13 hr flight time (or 6 & 6). OMG
- Very expensive, we'd have to really watch our budget and can't splurge as much

From reading your post... you can tell that you want Maui more!

yes, it is a longer flight and more money.... but it's your HONEYMOON!

make sure you get shave ice in hawaii. so delish. :]

and make sure you get up and walk around on the plane, do a lap around a few times otherwise your feet will get SO swollen. ugh.

Hawaii is the way to go for your honeymoon IMO

We're doing Hawaii and Maui is one of the islands... just always wanted to go there. They do have All Inclusives in Hawaii... not abundant, but they exist and may be an option. If you do a condo, you'll save a lot on it up front an be able to buy groceries to cook some meals in. It may not be that much more.

We stopped in St. Lucia on a cruise...it was okay. JMO, but all of those caribbean islands seem the same to me, with the exception of St. Maarten.

We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon in August. Maui was our favorite island of the 3 we visited. The water is not as blue as the bahamas, but it's still beautiful. There is so much to do and the food is unbelievable. I am not a big fish eater, but I had fish there every night and loved it!!! I HIGHLY recommend the Fairmont Keylani. It's a huge resort, but does not cater too much to kids, like the Hyatt does. That is where Jessica Simpson and Brittany Spears stay when they vacation in Maui.

As other posters said, if you can afford the trip to Maui, DO IT! You probably won't get the chance again.

FM me if you need any additional info on Maui. I am a great resource since I just came back from there a few months ago. I don't like to sugar coat things. I'll tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly of Maui ;D (Well, there is no ugly in Maui, hehe)

I love Maui, its amazing. The flight there isnt' bad because its exciting, but I won't lie, the flight back is brutal.

I was also choosing between the two and I chose Hawaii...I've been to many other carribean islands and feel like st. lucia would just be another carribean trip added to my list, whereas hawaii is a place I've never been and will probably never go unless I do it while I'm young.
