Cancun is actually very nice, I always thought it was very commercial and college/highschool but I went in August, obviously not near Spring Break or any school break, and It was so easy to get around on your own, lots of different excursions and tours the snorkling is great, I always avoided Cancun, but soooo glad I finally went. Puerto Rico is close by check that out too, The Florida Keys I heard is really great for adults - it's very fun, lots of nightlife.

You may have to wait to get a last minute deal but try these two websites, my FH and I have booked som great trips, CHEAP!!! We went on a 7 day Carribean cruise from Miami for $500 a person, not including airfare, using vacationstogo.com. That obvioulsy doesn't include spending. And then last year we went to DR for 5 days all-inclusive for $475 a person, including air, thourgh www.travelzoo.com. Check them both out, you can find some great deals. My friends and I are probably going to use travelzoo to book my bachelorette party.

Check out Best Price Cruises You can find an amazing 7 night cruise for that price -

You could do disney if you really wanted and NOT do the childish things - there are plenty of water activities, spa treatments etc you could do if you wanted.

You could consider something a little less traditional:

Condo on Cape cod
cabin in gatlinburg, TNN
Williamsburg, VA
Go up to Vermont - where you can have picnics, hike, just relax -
or to New Hampshire
What about a canada? - Montreal?
You could go to the Cape, martha vineyard, nantucket. - If you get a condo you can cook your own meals and save there - do romantic dinners - sightsee, lay on the beach etc during the day

There is a place called the Bahia Principe in Mexico. It's on the Mexican Riviera (Yucutan Peninsula) and it is absolutely gorgeous. My FH and I went there for our birthdays this past November and absolutely loved it. There were a million honeymooning couples and people having their weddings there. We're actually nervous that we'll never find a place as nice as this one for our honeymoon!!

He got it through priceline.com (they do vacations now) and it was all inclusive for the two of us for somewhere around $1600.

Oh, FYI - we stayed on the Akumal side (there are two - Tulum is the other side). I liked it better because it was a little quieter...

Many cruise lines go out of Manhattan, so you could save huge by not needing to spend on airfare. Plus, cruises are very inexepensive anyway (some web deals offer $600 pp for a decent cruise) so you'd have tons left for spending money.

ladies, i just want to thank you all for this input!!! i really appreciate it and i am feeling like we will be able to do this, which is so nice!!! we are a bit over budget with the wedding so we have been thinking that a honeymoon is not in the picture, but that might be changing. especially with the whole cruise thing out of new york. i have a new cruise fear b/c we saw ghost ship a couple of weeks ago and now i am thinking omg, are we gonna be slaughtered. see, i don't think horror movies are for me!!!

Ever been to Bar Harbor, Maine? If you're much of a nature buff it's a great choice for you! It's on a smallish island (Mt. Desert) that you can drive to that has a little bit of everything- mountains, lakes, beaches. You can camp, stay in a BnB, hike, shop!! It's my favorite place in the world. It's also where we are taking our honeymoon after our august wedding!
