Honeymoon in Cabo & Riviera Maya- Where to stay?

Figured I'd post here since there's more traffic than the honeymoon board. We are thinking of doing one week in Cabo & one week in Riviera Maya. Can anyone recommend hotels? thanks!

Honeymoon in Cabo & Riviera Maya- Where to stay?

For Riviera Maya - I absolutely recommend Excellence Riviera Cancun. It is stunning there. For Cabo, there is the Fiesta Americana, which I considered that is supposed to be amazing

Re: Honeymoon in Cabo & Riviera Maya- Where to stay?

http://rivieramaya.grandvelas.com/ that's where we will be staying most likely. I've never been to Mexico but that hotel is supposed to be absolutely amazing. there is also a secrets marona beach that was on our list before we decided on grand velas.

also same hotel other girl posted in Cabo my aunt said is amazing the fiesta one. when we were looking at Cabo that was on our list. along with secrets in los cabos which isn't cabo but it's close by I assume.

Re: Honeymoon in Cabo & Riviera Maya- Where to stay?

We are staying at Cozumel Palace for the snorkeling and I've loved Cozumel in the past. We are using a time share though.
Someone else mentioned Grand Velas and I almost picked that one, it's GORGEOUS, but it's all beach and not as good snorkeling which is important to us. After reading reviews on trip advisor I also noticed that they charged extra to go snorkeling, use kayaks (I can't remember if there's a lagoon with kayaks at this resort) and little things that were included in the other resorts. But it's gorgeous and if you want to just relax and not do that much activity it might be a good choice!

Re: Honeymoon in Cabo & Riviera Maya- Where to stay?

I just came back from my honeymoon three weeks ago from the Riviera Maya. We stayed at the Excellence. I have been to Mexico three times - Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and Riviera Maya. By far, The Excellence is the TOP resort I have EVER stayed at. The resort is HUGE, 10 bars, 8 restaurants (which are superb) and 9 pools. The staff is extremely amazing, goes over and beyond. THe hotel is clean, and well maintained. No reservations are required at the restaurants. The turndown service is such a sweet touch at the end of the night.

THe beach is so well kept. The place in itself is catered to honeymooners and anniversary couples. Truly romantic!!

I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT.

Cabo is amazing too, but the beach isn't. Depending on when you go - it might be too rough to go on. Puerto Vallarta has neighboring beaches and I was only to be go in once during my stay but that didnt bother me much.

Cabo has a great nightlife and Fiesta Americana is a beautiful hotel. I am not sure if that is all inclusive. Just double check that.

Grand Velas a thousand times over!!!

FH and I stayed there in October and it's AMAZING! The restaurants are out of this world and the resort is beautiful. You are going to love it.

they have underwater rivers with caves nearby! that's what sold me on grand velas. we're using a timeshare too my aunt gave us I'm literally on the rci website everyday checking to see if weeks were added for 2014. I should check out cozumel. technically we can take 2 trips we just haven't decided the 2nd part yet. though fh keeps saying Jamaica.

they charge extra for kayaks? I know they charge extra for internet which annoys me, no hotels should charge for that!

Honeymoon in Cabo & Riviera Maya- Where to stay?

thanks! we seriously considered secrets maroma and grand velas during our search for riviera maya because they were all inclusive and looked gorgeous but now we are sort of leaning towards the rosewood mayacoba which is not all inclusive but supposed to be gorgeous. anyone heard anything about/been to this hotel?

also, diorprincess, what made you decide to go with grand velas over secrets maroma?

thanks again!

googling and reading how people say it's in a class of it's own that it's that good. it's a higher end resort I think. though secrets I think has the better beach but ehh. plus all the secrets seem to have open bathrooms lol. I know we'll be married but do we really have to start peeing in front of each other already? lol. I remember reading 1 review the girl was like I really didn't need to see my bf on the toilet and hear him lol.

I think there is a curtain or something? I'm not sure. the one where I read that review was the secrets in Jamaica but I think all them are like that lol. I don't know why so many hotels think it's the new great thing to have an open bathroom.

years ago I stayed at a w hotel in montreal and it had an open shower, literally the shower faced the bed. it was fun at first but awkward having my ex watch me shave my legs in the shower lol.
